If you have the cds then you can reinstall it.

or save all data and restore to original setting and then you will have ms office again.

or if all else is a no brainer.

then go out and buy a teacher and student edition approx £100 in uk

I tried it before, and again. There have been no changes according to the restore program. When I try to open Office I get a box that says "this command only works for components that have been installed". I really dont get it. Should I reinstall the whole windows package?

How to activate office 2007

moz-screenshot.pnggenuine-ms-software.gif
Office Genuine Advantage (OGA) is another anti-piracy initiative by Microsoft on its popular business productivity product – Microsoft Office XP, Office 2003 and Office 2007. Similar to Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA), OGA requires users of the Microsoft Office software to validate their installed copy of Microsoft Office in order to download files from Microsoft Download Center, access updates or hotfixes from Office Update, and receive special offers for genuine users.

OGA is not to be confused with Office Product Activation that is mandatory required to during the installation process in order to use the Office software whereby users enter a serial product key that is validated online over the Internet or by phone by Microsoft to confirm that the product key has not been used on more personal computers than are permitted by the Microsoft Software License Terms. To crack Office XP/2003/2007 activation, you need a key generator that provides volume license key (Guide: How to change Office 2007 product key).
If you’re using a keygen-generated product key or publicly available leaked Office 2007/2003/XP serial number, especially the volume license key (VLK) that requires no activation when used, most of the keys no longer able to pass the OGA genuine validation test anymore with the following error message (Office 2007 as instance):
office-fail-validation.jpg This computer has failed validation.
Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007: Validation Failed
The product key used to install Office is not valid. It has been identified by Microsoft as a false key used with counterfeit copies of Office.
[0x80180108]
It’s likely that users who failed validation check may continue to use Microsoft Office as per normal and use Microsoft Updates to update critical patches. However, if you want to download add-ins, updates, templates, samples and tutorials, Smart Tags, Language Interface Packs and Software Development Kits (SDK) that require Genuine Office validation, you won’t be able to do so.
To bypass or crack the Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Office 2003 OGA genuine validation, follow these steps:
  1. Install and activate Microsoft Office 2007 or other version of Office. If you intend to use the key-gen, you must install Enterprise edition.
  2. Download the patched ogacheckcontrol.dll.
  3. If you never validate your copy of Office, go to Genuine Microsoft Software web page, and run the Office Validation Assistant by using Internet Explorer (not Firefox as it will use different version of ActiveX component). This is to install the components required for Office validation. If you fail the validation – Office not genuine – simply ignore the message.
  4. Copy the cracked ogacheckcontrol.dll to the following location: Windows XP and Windows Vista (32-bit): \Windows\System32\
Windows XP and Windows Vista (64-bit): \Windows\SysWOW64\
  5. Attempt to download Office files that require validation again. All downloads should work now.
The OGA Check Control crack works on Office 2007 Enterprise Edition, Office 2007 Blue Edition, Office 2007 Professional Edition, Office 2007 Pro Plus, Office 2007 Standard Edition and all Office 2003 Editions.
If you’re using invalid or blacklisted product key, you may have to change the Office product key (Guide: How to change Office 2007 product key). This is especially so if you’re using Microsoft Office 2007 Blue Edition.
Disclaimer: This patcher is for genuine Office user who having problem to pass genuine validation only. To use Office 2007, you must purchase a licenseir?t=techgadgetrev-20&l=ur2&o=1. Alternatively, you can use for free OpenOffice.org, an equally good productivity suite.

OK, sounds like the problem is that the computer cannot get a valid IP address. In fact it sounds like you might have a IP address conflict on your network. Each IP address on a network segment must be unique.

Check if you are using DHCP.

  • Go to
  • Control Panel
  • Network connections
  • Locate the network connection you are using e.g. 'Local area connection' or perhaps 'Wireless connection'
  • Right click on the relevant network connection
  • Select 'Properties'
  • Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
  • Select Properties
Is your machine set to "Obtain an IP address automatically" (DHCP) or "Use the following IP address".
If its "Use the following IP address" then make sure no other machines are also using this IP address. You can try setting to 'automatic' but if you do, make sure that you note all details first, so you can revert back to the settings you currently have if you need to.
if its "Obtain an IP address automatically" then make sure no other machines have been manually set.

With regards to the microsoft update, then your best bet is to only select a small number of updates at a time, until you determine which update(s) is causing the failure. Once you know which update is the problem then you can troubleshoot the specific update.

Hope this helps

Please take the time to rate this answer. Many Thanks Don.

VPU recovery problem

I had the same problem (sorry for my English). Ive installed all the updates for XP, then i updated my drivers to top, but it doesn't work. BUT! I was installing drivers without ATI panel, only the driver. The last version of drivers on time of writing the post is 27/01/10 (catalyst 10.1 or something, dont remember)- installing this helped the video to run for an hour, copmparing to 4 minutes before using this drivers. After being stopped again(DAMN), i ve decided to slow down the clocking of card in ATI panel- originally it was 650-400 MHz, then ive made it 400-400 and black screen of death dissapeared for ages. I had very much troubles with this, so i hope it would help somebody. Dont feel any differience in games.
the only thing for thinking is the count of triubles with this card- like ATI_AMD cant create a stable hardware.

Does anyone have clue about the " Pro.Msi" File

An .msi file is a database of all the files, settings, and configuration information for the associated application. When you install Office on your computer, the .msi file is saved in a hidden folder. Without this file, Windows Installer cannot update your configuration, install optional features, or apply software updates. Office cannot be installed, repaired, or updated if the .msi file is not found.
Why is the .msi file missing? The most likely reason for Windows Installer to require the installation CD is because the saved version of the .msi file for Office has been inadvertently or deliberately deleted from your computer. It is also possible that the file is damaged or corrupted.
Occasionally, changing the drive letters associated with partitions on your hard disk can cause this problem to occur — such as changing drive C: to a different letter or moving the hard disk drive from one computer to another. Other possible causes are a damaged or corrupted hard disk or registry file.
What to do when prompted for a missing .msi file If you are prompted for the location of a missing .msi file, you must provide the original installation CD used to install Office on your computer.
  1. Make sure that you have inserted your Office installation CD into the CD drive of your computer. If you installed Office from a network, browse to the network location from which you installed Office.
  2. Click Retry.
In most cases, these steps should resolve the problem and Office can complete the installation and configuration of the needed component.
default.aspx?assetid=za790050011033I don't have the installation CD
Without the installation CD — or for computers purchased from companies such as Dell, HP, Compaq, or Gateway — you need to provide a repair CD to reset the installation created for your computer by the manufacturer. For information on how to apply the repair or installation CDs, you might need to contact the support representatives of your computer supplier.
In many cases, the files that you need are compressed on the repair CD and must be run by using a special program provided by the computer manufacturer. In some cases, the computer manufacturers might have customized the .msi file or changed the file name.
In situations where you cannot obtain the installation CD, your options are the following:
  • Continue with the existing installation of Office without updating. This is not recommended. Your documents and computer might become compromised from security threats.
  • Remove the installation and reinstall Office by using another installation CD. Removing the previous installation may not be possible in severely damaged systems where the registry is corrupt.
  • Run a repair CD provided by the computer manufacturer. For information on how to apply the repair CD, you might have to contact the computer manufacturer or consult the documentation provided with the computer.
If you do not know which version of Office you have installed, the name of the .msi file requested indicates the Office version you have. A table that correlates .msi files to Office versions is provided later in this article.
Office 2003, Office XP, and Office 2000 provide the Detect and Repair command. You can find the Detect and Repair command on the Help menu of almost all Office programs. Using this command corrects identifiable problems such as missing files, corrupt files, registry omissions, or damaged registry entries. It replaces the .msi file if it was deleted, damaged, or is the wrong version. Using the Detect and Repair command usually requires you to provide the installation CD for the version of Office currently installed on your computer.
default.aspx?assetid=za011526611033 How to prevent similar problems in the future To help avoid this problem in the future, use the following guidelines:
  • Do not delete hidden folders or files from any drives on your computer.
  • Do not move drives or change their disk identifier (for example, C: to D:).
  • Install all needed applications as Run from My Computer instead of using Install on Demand (available from custom installation within Setup).
  • Occasionally run the Windows Disk Defragment program to repair cross-linked files, recover lost clusters, and remap bad sectors on your hard disk. Any data present in a bad portion of the hard disk is usually lost and commonly associated with physical damage to the disk. This is most likely the result of high-vibration environments, such as the computer being struck, dropped, or kicked.
If you have Microsoft Windows XP as your operating system, consider using the System Restore option to restore your system to a previous configuration. Consult the Help and Support option of Windows XP for more information on System Restore.
Office 2003 .msi files If you do not know which version of Office you have installed, the name of the .msi file requested indicates the Office version you have. The following tables tell which .msi files go with which Office versions.
