Question about Panasonic Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

MY panasonic NN-A554WBBTQ Microwaze stopped working. I took it to the local Panasonic Repair outlet an d I was told it's something called a magnetron that is damaged and that the repair cost would be too high. Can I replace it my self and save on the labour cost or is it not worth it?

I would not recommend replacing it yourself. It requires special tools, safety protocol, safety inspection and leakage certification when repairs are complete. These are the things that professional servicers are trained hours for.

PANASONIC Microwave Inverter #NN-SD697S. Everything works except the START button. Works sometimes, and not other times. Checked outlet, all was good.

This is either the door sensing switch (most likely) or a bad membrane switch [start switch] (that's what Panasonic calls it) on the touch pad. The contacts on the door sensing switch can be slightly contaminated and not read "zero ohms" to the control PCB. The control board thinks that the door is open and it will not allow the cook cycle to start.

My model nn-p295wf microwave stopped working ,all power just stopped, about a year ago. I took it to a repair shop and they replaced the DIODE and the fuse, then it worked again. Afew weeks ago it happened...

Replace the magnetron, safety fuse and diode as a set and check the door interlock switches.
That should get it working for another year or so.
Don't forget microwave mains fuses are special sand filled and semisurge type.

Panasonic nnt774sf door will not remain closed. It appears the top plastic piece on the microwave itself (not on door)that the hooks latch on to is broken. Is there a way to fix this?

You can purchase parts for Panasonic microwaves but home repair is not recommended due to them being lethal if you do something wrong. I would find a good local repair shop and they should be able to find the part and repair. It might not however be cost effective, depends on the part price.

Panasonic nn-s558ba microwave won't power on

Lee,

Have Landlord replace unit after verifying that outlet has power.

In the future, follow manufacturer's cleaning instructions and DO NOT
run microwave without something in it (even a microwave safe cup of water).

No power to the unit, fuse tested fine, outlet is working

Sorry, but your subject line got cut off.

Assuming the outlet is fine, it may be a thermal cutout / thermostat on the magnetron or on top of the cavity.

The best place to order parts for this brand is Encompass (formerly Tritronics). Or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Panasonic NN-S953 Microwave Problem

It sounds like a problem with the inverter, control unit (circuit board) or high voltage transformer. I would recommend first that you (or a servicer or electrician) measure the actual line voltage at the outlet. It may be too low, or you may have a tarnished breaker or bad connection between the breaker and the outlet. Then try something like a toaster or toaster oven in that outlet and see if it toasts bread properly. Toasters consume a lot of current, so they are good load testers for outlets. Another good test is a hair dryer. Due to the lethal voltages involved, I do not recommend that a person without training and experience ever work on these models. You should be able to locate a Panasonic-authorized servicer here: http://www.pasc.panasonic.com/WhereTo/FindServicer.asp?Pass=1 I would mention the exact symptom when you call so the technician can bring a new inverter with him when he comes out to repair it. Might save you having it pulled into the shop. Also, you can save about $50 by removing it from the wall and taking it to the shop. It's really a two-person job for safety's sake, and having the original installation info helps a lot. If you still have questions, please feel free to follow up. I appreciate your thoughtful ratings to my reply.
