Dear corporatejaz,

Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!

I would be glad to help you with this.
1. Plug a USB thumb drive into any PC running Windows 7.
2. Click on the Start button and then open your CMD prompt using "Open as Administrator".
3. Type in "Diskpart" and hit enter.
4. Type in List Disk, hit enter, and it will display your disks.
5. Locate the Thumb Drive by the size and then type in "Sel Disk #" # being the number of the drive.
6. Once it says it is selected, type in "Clean" and hit enter.
7. Now type in "Create Partition Primary" and hit enter
8. Now type in "Format fs=fat32 quick label=Win7" and hit enter.
9. Now type in "Assign" and hit enter. Windows should now re-open the drive in Windows.
10. Now type in Exit, hit enter. Type in Exit again, and hit enter.
11. Copy the contents of a Windows 7 CD to this drive now, and it will boot and install just like the CD.

My hard drive stop working and cant open it am no good on computer would like to talk to someone on the phone if it possible my number is 705-969-8679

If the disk-drive has "failed", then it must be replaced:
* turn the computer off
* disconnect the AC power
* remove the side-panel(s)
* remove the cables (data & power) that connect to the disk-drive
* remove the screws that hold the disk-drive in the frame
* remove the disk-drive
* take it to a computer-store
* show it to them, and they will sell you a compatible disk-drive
* reverse all the above "remove" steps to connect the new disk-drive
* turn the computer on
* insert the "System Restore" CD/DVD disk that came with your computer
* Windows will be installed onto the new disk-drive
* run Windows Update, several times, to get all the latest security-updates for Windows
* install free anti-virus software: http://www.Microsoft.com/security_essentials

However, it's possible that your disk-drive is still working, and all your "data" files on the disk-drive can be "rescued", even through Windows is not starting-up completely & properly.
Take your computer to a qualified technician, for trouble-shooting & repair.

The external storage device has several major components:
* USB cable
* external power-supply
* disk-drive inside the enclosure
* USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure.
Try a different USB cable.
Try a different USB port on your computer.
Try a USB port on a different computer.
Take a multi-meter, and measure the output voltage/amperage of the power-supply,
and compare with the specifications on the label of the power-supply.
Open the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive, and attach it as a "slave" drive in a desktop computer, to see if bypassing the USB-to-disk-drive adapter bypasses the problem.
Look at the label on the disk-drive, for manufacturer, product-number, serial-number, and manufacture date. Access the manufacturer's web-site, and use "check warranty status" to see if the warranty still is valid. If so, the drive can be replaced, at minimal cost to you.
Buy a new, compatible, disk-drive, and install it in the enclosure, to "revive" your external storage device.
Search online for a professional "data recovery service". For a significant fee, they can repair your disk-drive, just long-enough to copy your files to a new disk-drive. Seagate's web-site has an data-recovery offer: no charge if we cannot recover your files.

My lacie hard disk 1tb all of a sudden isnt

Just contact www.lacie.com great support. their answer for my drive was to reboot the drive. For me it worked.

Follow the procedure below to reset the Network Space to factory defaults:
  1. Move the power switch to the OFF position. Wait for the drive to shut down.
  2. Turn ON the drive.
  3. Within about 3 seconds, flip the switch OFF and On several times.
  4. Immediately turn it ON
If the light flashes quickly, the unit is resetting itself. Attempt to connect to the drive again after about 1 minute using the default username and password (by default, they are both admin.)

Computer Wont Turn Back On

Can you hear if your if your hard drive is spinning??

Try placing the XP disk in, booting from the disk and go through the process as though you were going to install xp WITHOUT installing. If your hard drive is not dead it will show you that you have a windows installation already there. If it is there then it will be asking you where to install XP. You may have to be quick getting the disk in since it seems like you laptop turns right back off so it may take you 2 tries. 1 to get the tray open and 1 to boot it up.

If the cd doesn't boot up, be sure you have your cd selected as the first boot option in your bios.

Hope this helps!!
