Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer
Hi! my husband cleaned out the junk cought in the pump and it still won't drain it sounds like its trying to.my husband thinks it may need a new pump.what do you sugest? thanks kim or firstname.lastname@example.org
There's a good possibility that the pump impeller or motor could have been damaged by whatever was clogging it up. It doesn't take much to break them. If the drain lines are clear, and you have verified no clogs between the drain tub and the pump (I have found wash clothes and socks stuck here before), then I would recommend a pump replacement. I'm assuming the electrical connection is good, since you stated that you could hear the pump running. If you need instructions on how to replace the pump you can use the following link:
I know the symptom I listed is for a pump that is not running, but there are situations where the pump will continue to run, but still won't pump water.
To answer the next possible question...No, I don't think the motor is sold as a separate part. I did not see it listed that way. If you go to searspartsdirect.com and type in your serial number, the part can be located as item number 10 (part # 8181684) under the "Pump and Motor Parts" heading. If you do not wish to purchase on line, use the part number provided and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Tips for a great answer:

You first of all need to
check the pump filter. This is
located at the bottom front right of washer. Look for a drop down flap or cover, once
located, unscrew filter anti-clockwise to remove and clean. Of course be prepared for a lot of water and
junk. The pump itself is directly behind
the filter housing, check there to see if anything is stuck in the plastic blades. It should turn freely. Your washer door will not open if there is
water in the washer, just some kind of precaution, so don't force the door.

This issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged
drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and
remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower
front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs,
you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely, if the issue returns then it is time for a new pump. Hope this
helps... Please post back for any further assistance.
