What do you mean by "sound like a transformer invaded it", i take it to mean it's making a lot of mechanical type noise, which would most likely be a fan problem....and if it is a fan problem it needs to be taken care of IMMEDIATELY!!!!! ....Unless you are prepared to open up your computer, i would take it to someone local who can clean it and listen to the noise to determine if a fan replacement is in order.
If you still have Norton uninstalled, i would recommend AVG 8.0 anti virus; it's free, and a very good program. Here's the link:

Sounds like someone managed to get a "backdoor virus" on your computer that allows a third party access to your computer for sending spam, Denial of Service Attacks, etc....

That activity consumes computer resources slowing down your operations to a crawl.

Most good anti-viruses will remove them I use Norton 360 and a few others to catch anything the other misses. I Use Norton 360 for the firewall...

My hpg62 is slow and keeps locking

Give us more details if you really want help. What do you mean by Google and Documents quit working? What happens if you try to open your internet browser? What happens when you try to open a document?

You most likely have some type of virus infection. And if when you click on an application such as Word, Notepad, Internet Explorer, etc. you get a screen that pops up asking you which program would you like to use to open it, then your Program/File Associations has been changed by the virus.

A slow system is definitely a sign of a virus infection. Now McAfee and Norton will slow you to a crawl if you let your subscription expire and not renew it. So it's best to remove them (uninstall) if the subscription has expired and you don't plan on renewing it.

Recently I have purchase a Toshiba Satellite L650 I5311 laptop, its interl core I3 - 350 M processor, 2.40 Ghz, 3mb L2 Cache, 320 GB SATA, 4GB DDR3 RAM, onboard graphics, the problem is the system is...

Only things that i can think of is that Norton anti virus has been known to be a bit of a system hog, so maybe search for an alternative, otherwise you may have a 32bit version of windows installed, getting a 64 bit version installed might see some increased performance, but otherwise make sure you have limited programs at startup, the more programs you have starting at startup will fill up your RAM and in turn slow down file swappage because the RAM is full

The only thing that is really a let down with your new laptop is the onboard graphics card, but that shouldn't be effecting file swappage, only effecting graphical programs.

however it could be because your running a Video/Webcast as well as a couple of other documents your graphics card might not be able to handle it, sadly you can't upgrade a graphics card in a laptop.

hope this has helped

Slow processsing

Probably caused by Norton. Please get CClean, a free download, and clean your compluter. http://www.ccleaner.com/

Then defrag your drive.

These things will help a little.

Check what is running int he background and remove what ever you dont regularly use.

Laptop infected with worm.

Nortons sucks. you should try an anti-virus scan with Malwarebytes, then you should install Avast as your resident protection.

Be sure, when uninstalling Nortons, to use the uninstallation tool found on the nortons site. if you use the regular windows uninstaller, it will not remove all of it, and it will slow your computer down.

Do I need a Norton-type security for my laptop, or is AVG sufficient ?

Hi,
AVG is more than sufficient for a home computer.
Norton takes quite a lot of system resources and slows computers down dramatically. AVG on the other hand uses 2/3rds less resources than Norton and is just as good.

Reagrds.

Norton or avg free edition?

Both AVG and nod32 are quite good against viruses, but being only antivirus, and not a complete security suite, are both weak against other malaware threats.

If you do not want to buy a complete security suite like Nornon internet security, or Macafee security sute you can buy either AVG or nod32. Install a firewall like Zonealarm or similar to integrate the antivirus protection. AVG takes less RAM than nod 32, otherwise performances are similar.

If you are really worried about additional threats, you can integrate a free antivirus with a firewall and a good antimalaware like Spybot-S&D. This may slow down the computer a bit.

Acer Aspire 5580 suddenly slowed down

Your acer is infected with virus that current antivirus cannot detect. uninstall new application programs that make your computer slower. however if non of those causes; please try to check the memory maybe is not function well. if it is not the cause then; You should reinstall your system to fixed all error on it. ( note: reinstalling will remove some important files and you should back up) Further more; the best thing to do is format the HDD and install the new windows.

Harry: take note: that other causes of the computer slower is the HDD , I encountered 50 times problems that computer become slower bcoz of the hard drive mulfunction. If this is the case you should replace hard drive that is covered with warranty.
