24 hours is usually sufficient but if you can go 48 you will be fine.

My refrigerator wont work after laying it down to move it. What should I do?

I've done that before and there's no hope for it. Once you laid it down the freon got a air pocket in the compressor and it will no longer work. Guy from sears told me that laying them down ruins them.

My GE Refrigerator doesn't work properly.

The two main causes for your problem is the control set wrong and the second one isthe defrost element has burned out... Sometime the defrost clock will go out as well.... always try to set your controls to midrange and if the bottom of the freezer compartment is cold and frosty but the refrigerator is cold ... Remove all the food and store in a backup refrigerator you can rent from an appliance rental center... Unplug your refrigerator and let it defrost for 48 hours.... In the mean time open up the doors and clean it from top to bottom. place a fresh opened box of arm and hammer baking soda in the frige side and one in the freezer side. Plug back in after completely deftosted and place a small plastic cup half filled with water on each shelf of the freezer. Close the doors and wait 8 hours... Open the freezer and check the plastic cups.... if they are all frozen great..now wait for 3 days do the test again if the bottom cup is frozen and the top shelf is not ... its time for a new defrost element or a defrost timer.

Not realy a problem but just need to know .

Carry as upright as possible to new location. If you have to tilt it, tilt back, not side to side. When in new position wait 8 hours for oil to settle back in compressor before plugging in and switching on. Check after 24 hours before using for food storage.

Anything with a compressor in it should always be left for 24 hours standing upright then you can plug it in

How long do u have to wait to plug the refrigerator in if tipped on its side for a hour

You may have lost or will loose your compressor any way. But, You will need to keep it off for a minimum of 24 hours, if possible, 48. The longer the better your chances are. Most never work again. You may get lucky, I really hope you do.
I wish you the best, and please let me know.

My mover laid down my refrigerator to move it down some very tough stairs should I wait to plug it in and will this damage my fridg.

Hi,
Yes wait for like 12 hours to plug it in, then only run it for a few minutes and leave it set for an hour for about four times....
Yes it could damage the fridge but probably not...

Moved our GE monogram to new house; was laid on side; now plugged in the motor does not kick on...all lights come on; worked fine before

Oooh -Refrigerators do NOT like laying down.
If you have done this - leave upright - unplugged for at least 4 hours before restarting.

If it has had this - it is possible the compressor may be offcentre inside it's black casing.
Try knocking it fairly hard once or twice, then plugging in again.
If this does not cause life to return, then it needs a serious look at to determine if it is getting power to it, if the control board is doing the right thing, and if the thermostats are set right.

Try resetting the thermostats really low to start with - and see if it wants to try cooling.

Pluged in a new one and it does not seem to be cooling off

did you tilt it prior to plugging it in you are supposed to wait 12 to 24 hours to plug them in if theyve been tilted at any time during transport.
