SOURCE: Lever won't stay down. If I keep holding it

Not sure why someone has not responded to your query. Unfortunately as an expert on the fixya system I can only see your comments.

My observation is the electronic control system that energizes the level solenoid on power on is faulty and needs replacement. Looking at the cost involved you should be able to get a brand new toaster of same features at much cheaper price.

The operation of the lever interlock is well explained in this patent document if you are interested.

You can pick up a new toaster from this site. (depending on your location)

GE toaster model 169100. : the lever to toast won't stay down. I researched removing the base to clean the magnets, but not regular Phillips screws. Suggestions??

I have the same GE toaster and now my lever won\'t lock in place when I push it down to cook my toast. The handle does not pull off and when you turn the toaster over there are no screws to take the toaster apart. So I guess I have to say this is a disposable toaster but I am extremely bummed because it is beautiful and match decor and microwave that has the same color scheme as my toaster.

I wish companies would stop making cheap junk that doesn\'t last more then a few years.

1) The lever at the back that keeps the foot up when threading etc will not stay up on it's own. When you put it up, it just falls bak down a second later. 2) The needle won't go up and down,...

it sounds like the take up lever has either come loose or is broken, & since the needle won't go up & down it needs to be checked

Tthe lever on my Braun HT 600 toaster won't stay down. 3 years old, but very moderate use. Ideas?

Be sure to unplug toaster first. While inverting your toaster, depress the toaster lever(s) and shake toaster to clear all bread crumbs. It can take up to several minutes of shaking to clear them completely, however, the key is to depress the toaster levers down at the same time. Also, remember to remove bread crumb trays and empty regularly, as the trays are too shallow and allow crumbs to build up quickly, thereby blocking the "locking mechanism" of the lever(s).

If after cleaning your toaster out thoroughly, the levers still won't remain depressed, try various outlets throughout your kitchen. Oftentimes, when one GFI (Ground Fault Indicator) trips, several outlets along the same circuit will also trip.

Also, there is a website called Manuals.com, which has a very good database of many manuals for various manufacturers and models of toasters, should all of the above efforts fail.

I did all of the above and fixed my toaster within five minutes. :- )

Good luck to you.

PTO CONTROLS. How do you engage and disengage PTO.

The tractor is not a 6300 is it.If it' not you need to adjust the cable for the p.t.o. until it will stay down.Don't turn the turnbuckle too much at a time because there is a fine line between the won't engage and the won,t disengage adjustment.

Lever on taoster will not stay down

I would just buy a new toaster...they are not that expensive. Check the intruction book first because maybe it's under warranty. Or if you bought it very recently, just take it back to the store. Most places will take it back even without a reciept if you tell them you just bought it and it's already broken.

Toaster lever wont stay down

Open the toaster up and look inside by the levers, there should be a little piece that will keep the lever down, if this is missing, then you may need to replace the toaster, if not, then the little piece may be stuck, you can use the following to try and loosen it up,
1. WD-40
