If the drill is getting older it becomes weaker.it looses its power.
it usually switch. but i advice to change switch & motor. and if
the 2 battery is not holding the charged then its time to buy new unit.just to let you know battery are not included on max cost repair/guaranted repair cost.

Can I adjust the slip clutch on my Dewalt XRP?

Yes it is the black ring with the numbers on it, the lower the number, the easier it slips. Higher number, less slip.

How to remove a chuck from a DeWalt hand drill

Open chuck all the way (like for a large drill bit). There should be a set screw at the bottom (where you would put a drill bit). Don't turn too hard - it may be a left handed screw (I don't remember if it is a lefty for sure but try gently each way then with a bit more force each way until it moves).

Good luck.

Dewalt 14.4 xrp combi drill

remove the chuck retaining screw, shift the tool into the low position and the clutch into the drill only position. Find a bent handle allen wrench about the size of the chuck (bigger the better) insert short end into chuck and tighten. Put the chuck on a work bench with the long end of handle at about a 30 deg angle and hit it with a hammer. It might take a couple times but it will come off.
