Vcr/tv how to get the carriage unstuck

It sounds as if the drive belt or wheel that controls the carriage has perished and failed. There is normally a micro switch on the side or rear of the tray, that senses the presents of a casset. If it is closed with stikky tape or clay you may be able to simulate a casset in the machine and with manual force help the casset to open or close. alternatively a small lamp in the centre of the tray senses the tape. then you have to cover the lamp or two sensors on left and right side of the tray, to prevent detection of the broken or missing tape.

Error 5100 typically means that something has jammed the carriage. Unplug printer, open, and examine the print area for anything that might be blocking the print heads from moving back and forth. clear...

Does it try to eject the tape? Try a gentle help on that. The tape may have gotten snarled in the camera.

How do you open a Scotch Tape Dispenser C60 to change the tape

The entire carriage lifts out using a good amount of lifting force. Slide your finger under the empty roll from the front of the dispenser. Apply upward pressure. You may be concerned that you will break the plastic roller, you won't. the entire carriage will pop up. When it does it's a simple matter to replace the old tape with a new roll. Snap the carriage back into place to use the new roll.

It sounds you may have it out of sync. With the top off, load a tape and watch it load. VCR's are light sensitive, they have light sencors on the sides of the carriage to monitor the end of the tape. So a you might have to block the light by holding a pice of cardboard kinda over it with the top off. Make sure the tape goes out around the head, if it does'nt than there could be a belt off ,IF it is a belt drive. If not it gears.Make sure the tape cartiage comes all the way out, sometimes the carriage does'nt come all the way back. That means it has slipped a tooth on a gear. Sometimes its a lengthy process, but mostly machinal.

CASSETTE STUCK IN VCR WONT EJECT I TURN VCR ON IT STAYS

turn on the machine. use your figure push on the cassette, when you feel the cassette can't go any farther (don't jam it),and hold it there. press the eject button, you may have to try this couple of times in order for the cassette to come out.
the cassette deck need to have the drive belt change.

Error 20-911

this is the emergency eject / error code 20-911, the manual has this method to solve the issue and have it manually eject

pressing 3 or 4 keys simultaneously; and "left arrow + menu" to get a maintenance menu, then "service", then "manual eject"

TV wont stay on

The vcr carriage was probably damaged ( broken gear or carriage gear, etc ), As for repairing it, it may not be worth it and chances are, you won't find a new carriage for the unit. I have, in the past, disarmed the VCR unit and at least the customer could watch the TV. Thats not possible in every set, but it seems to work in the majority of them. Good Luck

Tape rack stayed open

A similar thing happened to me - I took it to panasonic service centre to fix and unbelievably the problem was that the HAND STRAP was quite tight (I have small hands and set it snug) and prevented the door from openeing just another milimetre more, and thus caused the carriage to 'jam'. Loosening the hand strap and opening the door allowed the tape carriage to move properly again. This was a great relief (although I still had to replace the carriage mechanism a few months later.....due to reset button message)
