I suggest you format and reinstall the software, using your recovery CDs

if you dont have the recovery CDs, i need model, S/N of your computer

if you have a brand name computer, there is a link to get the drivers required

If you get a 'Limited connectivity" on you wirelessconnection on your laptop, it means that the wireless card on your laptopprobably did not get an IP address from the wireless router.

Trying to connect wirelessly to 2 wire. I get limited access icon

Hi groveland1,

I see that you are having issue with your Internet Connection, Limited or no connectivity is a possible issue with your network key / security key on the router and your laptop.

1. Try and check the network key in your router.

2. Check your network settings in the Laptop and see if the security settings in your Laptop is the same as the security/network key in your Router.

3. If possible recreate your wireless connection in windows for a fresh connection from your Laptop to your Router.

4. Change your Network Key in the Router and in your Laptop see if it will connect in-case you may have forgotten you old Network Key.

Hope this helps.

My laptop wont connect through wireless

Hi,

When you want to connect to a wireless network, especially a public one your anti virus's firewall may prevent you from connecting. Please make sure you disable the firewall feature of your anti virus while trying to connect to a public network or when accessing a computer through a public network

If you know what the spec for your laptop is check the encryption its capable of on a wireless network. If it an older laptop then its probably only 64bit encryption whereas your router is probably 128bit. If this is the case you need to set your router to 64bit encryption for it to work, and then the access key for your 2nd home pc to work

Broadband wireless adapter limited connectivity issues

If the wireless security on the router is enabled, then the pre-shared key or encryption key on the router and PC should match.

To check the wireless settings, use the laptop to access the web interface of the router. Follow the steps below:

1 Using your Internet browser, go to http://dsldevice.lan or to the IP address of your router (by default: 192.168.1.254).
2 On the Home Network menu, click Wireless.
3 In the upper-right corner, click Details.
4 The wireless Access Point page appears. Under:
- Configuration, you can find the network name (SSID).
- Security, you can find the encryption.

On the PC wireless, access the wireless network connection. Select the SSID and then type the encryption key or pre-shared key.

Once the encryption key on the PC and router matches, then you should obtain an IP address and get online.
