I kind of figured it was an internal problem. Just wanted to confirm that with somebody who knows more about it than me. Thanks for your answer!

Hi,

This is a common problem with these models. This is an internal failure and needs repair. However, you could follow below steps to see if this would fix the problem :-

1. Pull the battery out. Clean the connectors with a cleaning solution or fine sandpaper.

2. Try to pull out the SD card and see, if the camera responds properly.

3. Make sure that the battery connector pins are not broken or tilted. Any breakage to these could result in the above mentioned error.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Camera does not recognize batteries.

Your batteries are worn out and need replacing for new fresh ones. They are charging, but not holding the charge. If they are new, they are fakes or worn out.

You can buy batteries which have a higher capacity, more MaH (milli-amp hour) than your current ones.

Having a quick Google, it is a known problem.

try this ... i had the same problem with the same camera and this fixed it.

remove the battery, and remove the memory card ... then re-install the battery & turn on the camera.

this process seems to reset the camera, if the battery ran too low.

now you can re-install the memory card & battery and resume normal operation.

be sure to check for the small flashing green light on the back of the camera (next to the "flash" indicator symbol). it should be blinking when the camera is charging.

i hope this helps you.

Change the batteries message keeps appearing even with fresh batteries. The camera turns on then immediately turns off What's up?

This actually a really common problem among Canon point and shoot cameras. There are a couple of methods that have worked well for others.

1. Open the battery compartment and remove the batteries. Then take a regular wooden pencil and place the eraser end down onto the battery contacts. Rotate the pencil to remove any corrosion. Sometimes a lack of proper battery contact will result in the low battery indicator.

2. Take a toothpick and wedge the tip under the battery contact and break it off. This will put more pressure between battery and contacts.

You can also try installing 3rd party firmware at http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_in_Brief
This is a bit technical and will probably void your warranty, but might be worth the try.

My nex tech binoculars will not turn turn on . Batteries are good

Was the camera dropped??

If it wasnt dropped try changing the batteries.

install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into the camera.

1. If the camera is on, turn it off.
2. If any accessories (memory card, lens, USB cable, camera or printer dock, etc.) are connected to the camera, remove/disconnect them.
3. Remove the battery/batteries from the camera.
4. Verify:
That you are using the correct battery/batteries for the camera
That the battery/batteries are correctly installed
That the battery/batteries are fresh or fully charged
Follow the battery installation and charging instructions in the camera User Guide
5. Turn on the camera.

Battery empty message

Put brand new batteries in. The battery empty message means there is no "juice" or power left in the batteries. If they are recharagable batteries, "re-juice" them (charge them).

the problem for the camera turning off or acting weird is the batteries. you need Alkalyne Batteries

Nov 19, 2008 | Olympus FE-210 Digital Camera

Camera will turn on and then turn off, while screen continuously flashes

I have had this problem with both a DSC-P72 and a DSC-P92 (same camera but 5 Mega pixel1.gif) They do need real good batteries, when the camera shut’s down I can run MP31.gif players or flashlights with those batteries for quit a while before those devices are dead.

I was traveling overseas once and installed “fresh” carbon batteries and the camera wouldn’t work at all. I had no photos on that trip until I found some alkaline batteries.

I even have bought 2 “dead” cameras1.gif to find that they work fine with REALLY GOOD batteries. So try it again before dumping the camera.
