SOURCE: fridge/freezer cooling inefficiently

Either the repair guy did not wire up the heater correctly or he replaced the wrong part, if the heater was good it was likley to be the defrost thermostat...I would call the repair guy back to check.

you have a defrost problem, could be bad adaptive defrost board,t-stat heater, when you open freezer door listen for fan if fan is blowing check the t-stat,look at it and see if it has a buldge on it,sometime you can see this and tell it's bad, you'll need a meter to read out the heater and other parts to see whats bad, might be a good idea to call a tech to do this, when you find problem you have to melt everything out again

Does the freezer / fridge door close good? Check the hinges. Also check the seal and the amount of food stuff you may have close to the door. If you have an ice maker make sure you have it secured inside the freezer section.

It sounds like something is keeping the freezer door open or from closing good.

You most likely have a fried overload, it is the small white square shaped piece on the compressor, to tell if it is bad, remove it and smell it for electric burning smell, or if you shake it and it sounds like sand shaking around it is definately bad. costs around $25 to replace. You can purchas this at using your model number.

Why do freezer and refrigerator get warm and then cool down again and repeat the cycle every few days?

check fan operation if fan not working will cause icing and the air wont pass thru causing temperature to rise in unit than defrost cycle removes some of icing and unit will work to cool down till iced over --other is defrost timer damaged or electrical connection problem

My refrigerator model SR2000 F sanyo cool only the from the upper part

Evaporator is frozen with a block of ice preventing airflow into bottom of refrigerator. If you turn off the unit and allow it to completely defrost (all ice in freezer melted) unit will work again until the ice builds up again in few days or week..

The defrost circuit on unit is not working. Check the defrost timer, defrost heater, or defrost thermostat. One of these is responsible for the problem.

Solenoidvalve not open

The cooling plate is icing up, sounds like the defrost element has failed, (Fan is hitting ice, hence the noise when shutting door) if there is ice building-up in the rear of the unit, either the defrost timer or defrost element has failed, Defrost the unit for 2 days with door open and NO FOOD inside. turn the unit back on, will work fine for a few days/weeks then return to problem. Solution points to Element, timer or thermo fuse, not costly to repair any of these,. Estimate $90-$120.Any further problems. Let me know PLEASE. Russ

My freezer coils are completely iced over. How do i fix this?

Its defrost problem. You need to first try manual defrost procedure. This will completely defrost the ice.But if again after few hours or few days, same problem is noticed of coils getting iced, then its defrost problem.--------- In defrost problem, mostly fridge section section stops getting cool.It cools but not properly.----- And freezer section works properly. ------------

The manual defrost reset procedure. The procedure is as follows: ----

First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice collected on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted. Clean the water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to main power outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both fridge and freezer section. It will take near to 4 hours to get run in its proper cooling cycle. Then check, if the problem returns again. Then its defrost board problem. -------------

If it's again building up ice that means the unit is not defrosting. It's starting the cooling procedure, and then while defrosting, it's not working. The defrost assembly consists of three main parts. The defrost thermostat, the defrost heater and defrost board. Any of the one is not functioning. When thermostat sense the maximum cooling, it triggers the defrost heater to start heating and this defrosts the ice collected on the coils and the system works. Both thermostat and heater are controlled by defrost board. First the thermostat and defrost heater to be checked, if both check ok by meter and visually, then its defrost board causing the problem. You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

You have a problem with the defrost system. It could be a few things defrost heater, thermostat, or defrost timer. It works for a few weeks then the evaporator coil is icing up (stops cooling) then you unplug and thaw it out(lots of water) Here is a link that should help Refrigerator not cooling

The fridge will operate fine for about 2 or 3 days and then the inside will get warm and melt all the ice. I will unplug the unit for a few days plug it back in and it will operate fine for a few days and...

Sounds to me like you have a bad defrost timer. As the freezer is working correctly, it is building ice on the evaporator. It sounds like it does not go into defrost, thus freezing up the evap coil, and stopping the evap from cooling the surrounding air. Hope this helps

My refrigerator is not cooling, and the freezer is not defrosting. I'm getting ice build up in freezer and not cool air in the refrigerator portion.

That is a defrost problem. Either one of three parts are bad. Defrost heater, timer, bi metal. You'll need a part to fix this issue but you can take a hair dryer over the coils in the back of the unit where the ice has built up and continually move the hair dryer to defrost down the ice. But you have to make sure that the coils don't get hot or you'll hurt your unit. But this will make your unit work again for a few days until you can get a repairman or the part to fix it. This will not solve the issue but it will help you out so that you won't lose all of your food.

Freezer works, fridge doesn't cool

Probably excessive ice in the condensor. Likely defrost thermostat or defrost heater problem.

What happens is excessive ice keeps airflow from the refrigerator part of the unit.

Freezer only freezing to 20 degrez

If the door was left ajar for any extended period frost has built up on the cooling coils. A complete defrost of the freezer should take care of the problem. Normally a frost free system will clear the ice from the cooling coil when the defrost time cycle happens. However frost may have built up in areas where the heaters can not readily remove it in a normal defrost cycle and shutting the unit down with the door open for about 24 hours should clear it out.
