My dry will not shut off when door is pended in cycle so I have to advance timer to stop

there is a switch in the door latch. it might be stuck or something is in there, the door catch is a safety device, when the door is open when in use it should turn off. if the door has been slammed this can also damage the door switch.

Whirlpool dryer will not start, used to start if I turned timer

whirlpool electric dryer will not start when you push start button. Model No. LER5634AW0. There is power to the dryer. The door switch appears to be working,(didn't check it with a meter). I push the start button, run it through all the cycles and still nothing. Are there any resets or circuit breakers that I could check? Where do I go from here?

Dryer Won't Start

Make sure it has power. Then:Check the door switch. A little lever sticking down through top right of door opening. If it is not there you will need new door switch(sometimes the little lever breaks off). If it is there and does not click when you press it in you need a new door switch. if it clicks when you close the door then you have a bad thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is found by taking the back of the dryer off. The fuse is an oblong white plastic piece with 2 wires attached.

Door switch part number 3406109
Thermal fuse part number 3392519

General Electric Heavy Duty Dryer willnot start when start button

WARNING: High Voltage may bzzt you... careful.

Your dryer thinks that it is at the end of a dry cycle.

First thing to do is disconect the dryer from the 220v mains and let it sit for about 10 min.

then, spin the timer four or five times around and then stop it at a TIMED dry cycle, not an automatic cycle. (example: 60 minutes).

Plug unit back into the wall.

SLAM door on unit and press button again...

Timer runs continuously - Does not stop at all

There should be a timer motor on the timer. That is most likely burnt out and will cause the timer to not shut down. Just replace the timer and that will solve the problem

Dryer timer comes on but with door shut it won't turn on

There are several problems that can cause a dryer not to turn on. The timer running tells me you are getting voltage to the operator console as the timer runs off 220VAC. The motor, however, requires several things to working in order for it to run. The door switch has to be in working order and making contact as the door closes. An easy test is to push in on the door switch with the door open. If the light goes out, the switch is making contact. The following link I'm providing will give you some more pointers on what to troubleshoot next:

Read through the link thoroughly and make sure your dryer vent ducting is clean prior to replacing any failed components. It is essential that a dryer has proper air flow in order to operate efficiently. Some component failures are directly attributed to clogged ducting and will occur again if the problem is not resolved. Read through the section that decribes a dryer that "does not run at all". A common failed item is the thermal FUSE, which can fail due to overheating. If it is blown, it must be replaced. The component is usually white in color and made of plastic. It will be mounted on the blower fan housing inside the dryer.

The problems I mention, are the most common failures for this symptom. However, please check everything to ensure you rule out all possibilities. If you still need assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Door interlock

Probably blown a track on the timer pcb, you need to remove the timer to check for short circuit.
