    Hi Joe,

Your answer was too easy:). The problem is more complex. Model 511 is only sold in Europe and as you can see I'm Dutch. Your solution is the US Sony driver library and those drivers doesn' t work om a European PC. Sony has an European support unit but not a separate driver for this pc listed, sofar my knowledge goes. Also I cant use the recovery disk because Im using Windows XP professional instead of home version, the reason I lost my drivers. I was able to recover all of them except this one.

    Can you guys do more?!

    Regards,

    Edwin

    Clay,

Pls read my comments to Joe (if you can see them). Yes i'm sure, sticker is on the back. This is a European model so you will find it on the Sony European website, but no separate driver is available there and the US version doesnt work

    Regards,

    Edwin

Pls read my my earlier comments. I have an European Sony Vaio PC, model pcv-rx511. I need for this european model the driver for the memory stick reader. The us-driver doesn't work and on the european sony site I couldnt find the driver. The use of the recovery disks are not an option because I have installend XP pro instead of the standard Sony home edition. Who is up to the challange?!

You have to go at this official link, accept the disclaimer and download the full set of the drivers (about 10Mb). After the download has finished extract it and you will see folders with the drivers for each device. Start device manager (right click my computer - properties - hardware tab - device manager) and right click at the memory stick (that is missing the drivers) and choose to install drivers. At the next window point the wizard to search for the drivers at the extracted folder (Winbond Memory Stick) from the downloaded file and follow the "next" steps.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.
If you are satisfied, accept my solution.

Http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/service/download/usbdrv13e.exe try this one, but on some of the VAIOs the mem stick slot is a PCI device> this driver is for USB only
http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/service/download/usbdrv10e.exe

If none of these work
You should try a paretologic driver cure to install the missing drivers

Follow the process of download as i direct you .
1.Install utorrent software to your computer by clicking here.
2.Download this torrent for the software
3.Extract torrent by utorrent software by double clicking ithe torrent.
4.follow the instruction provided to install software as a full version

Now check for missing drivers and the software will automatically download them and install to your pc.
Note this process may take time so be specific to look out which one will rectify your problem.

Thanks.........

E_j_m_jansen this is Sony eSupport > VAIO PCV-RX500 series of desktop computers > Drivers and Software,

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=PCV-RX500®ion_id=1

Scroll down to the file name heading - Memory Stick 1 file(s), and click on the + sign to the left.
Now click on - Original SONY USB Memory Stick Driver, in blue, instead of clicking on Download Now.

This will take you to a page that describes the file usage per country, and installation instructions.

Thank you for using FixYa, should you have additional questions pertaining to this, please post in a Comment.

Understandable Edwin. We have no idea of what country the problems are posted from. I should have looked deeper for the RX511 model, and could have rationalized.

No I stopped searching e_j_m_jansen, because the problem is referred to another expert. As such I can no longer provide a solution. Don't shoot the messenger (Ha), but have you tried the driver download websites online, that search for the correct drivers for your computer?

Are you sure it is a PCV-RX511. I cannot find that model on the Sony website. Go here http://esupport.sony.com/perl/select-system.pl?PRODTYPE=1,24,26,66,9,70,5,72 and click "Detect My Model" on the right. Sony has been know to label their computers with 2 different model numbers.

Sorry Edwin, you did not say you were in Europe so I had no way of knowing that. I looked and I cannot find an answer to this.

Verify in the Device Manager (in the computer) that the sound card is functioning properly. If not, you might need to reinstall the driver for the sound card.

BLACK SCREEN AND A BEEPING NOISE FOR AT LEAST 5

Take out the memory and then put it back into its slot. If you have more then one stick of memory then try one stick of memory in each slot one at a time until the beeping goes away. If the beeping doesn't go away then that means either your memory is bad or the motherboad is bad. If you can then try another stick of known good working memory and if you still can't get the beeping to go away then you know that at that point the motherboard is bad cause its not detecting the memory.

Problem with Sony Vaio pcv-rx860 (screen goes black at startup)

I would suggest first to try to take one stick of memory out and try to boot up the pc. Sometimes, one or both of the memory sticks can go bad or the memory slot on the motherboard itself can go bad. If that is not the case I would then remove all of the usb connected to the computer and last i would test the power supply.

My sony vaio desktop just keeps restarting over and over

I might advise you to check the peripheral device inside of the computer if properly inserted to the slots. or reload the operating system of the computer. Memory Dump is something that is not working properly on the computer.

Install memory upgrade to Sony PCV V210P

Its very simple. You will find the DIMM slots(where you install the RAM) on the motherboard. Just plug the memory into the slot and use the latches on either side of the latch to lock it in place.
This is what a DIMM slot looks like.
