SOURCE: scroll pad

Okay this sounds like a driver issue. 1. Right-Click My Computer 2. Select Manage 3. In the left window pane select device manager 4. In the list that appears in the main window see if there are any yellow triangles with either a ! or ? in it 5. If there are any on any of your mice or other pointing devices then you are missing a driver. to get the driver for your laptop you can find it here: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp30001-30500/sp30144.exe Hope it helps! If the user wants to hold down Fn key each time the customer wants to use the blue numbered keys on the keyboard, then the Scroll Lock has to be activated. NOTE: Some notebooks may not have Scroll Lock LED to indicate if it is activated or not.

To turn on Scroll Lock , first turn on Number Lock key by holding down Fn key and num lk key and then press the scroll (num lk) key once again to enable Scroll Lock .
To disable this feature (and turn off Scroll Lock ), press down Fn key and num lk key on the keyboard.

Hp 6730b gets hot quick..what to do?

Remember Laptops are delicate and it is avoidable to open them.
Especially if you are not a technician or knowledgeable about them.

Try and remove the dirt from the fan using a low power vacuum from outside.

Use a cooling pad Laptop Cooling Pads
and save yourself the risk of a working laptop.

Moreover I suggest get the internals cleaned when you undertake a upgrade for example HDD to SSD

MY HP 6730B will not power on with or without battery installed. the charger light blinks several times but nothing happens. The battery and AC adaptor are only a couple of months old. Any ideas...

Unplug your computer, remove the battery and hold down the start button for 60 seconds. Plug it back in and try to restart. If this works, turn it off again and reinstall the battery.

If this fails, you may have a motherboard issue.

Good luck.

Hp 6730b fan speed fully fast

It sounds like your laptop is overheating, hence it speeds the fan up. I would reccomend dismantling the laptop if you are confident in doing so, clearing any dust/debris from the cooling system and putting fresh thermal paste on where applicable. Hopefully this will cure your problem. If you are not keen on taking the laptop apart I recommend taking it to your local repair store for a cooling system service.

The touch mouse will scroll and move but won't click.

you might have to reset it
Most modern laptops with touchpads offer vertical scrolling, horizontal scrolling or both. These features are located along the right-hand and bottom edges of the touchpad, respectively, and are activated when you swipe your finger along the touchpad edge. Scrolling functionality is nearly always enabled by default, but some users find the feature an annoyance and elect to turn it off. In most cases you can simply turn the feature back on using the Windows Control Panel.

Click the Windows Start button, select "Settings," and then click "Control Panel." Double-click the icon labeled "Mouse." Select the Touchpad properties tab. The labeling of this tab varies, depending on your computer manufacturer, operating system version and the device drivers installed on your machine. Common labels include "Touch Pad," "Device Settings" and "Dell Touchpad." If you do not see this option, you may not be able to turn on scrolling for your laptop; skip the remaining steps and refer to the "Warnings" section below. Click the "Settings" button within the Touchpad Properties menu and look for the section labeled "Scrolling Settings" or similar. Enable scrolling within this section and define other scroll settings, such as scroll zone width and scrolling speed. Click "OK" to confirm your changes, and then close the Control Panel windows opened in the previous steps. The scrollbar on your laptop is now enabled.
Scroll Is Not Working With Windows 7 b> Certain computer touchpads have a vertical section on the pad itself that is used to scroll through the page or program window that you are currently viewing on your computer. If the scroll functionality suddenly stops working but the actual touchpad is still fine, this means that the part of the software for the device that controls the ability to use the scroll has been disabled. You can enable it again in the Control Panel.
Click "Start." Click "Control Panel." Click "Mouse." Select the "Enable Scroll" option (or whatever similarly named option is available on your specific model of laptop computer). Click "Apply." The scroll bar on your touchpad will now work again.
