Hi, some days it works great with my Sony MEX bt2500 car deck, but on off days it just won't pair at all - I tried for an hour this afternoon to re-pair it, and nothing - "unknown" comes up on devices found, even after resetting the deck. Please haaalp!
i have a nokia n95 which paired fine until my son borrowed the car and paired his phone, now mine cannot be paired!

Your car's bluetooth can only be paired to one device at a time. You would have to release it from your ohone to allow it to pair with hers. It's actually uncommon for any bluetooth audio device to be capable of pairing to multiple devices. I know that Jabra is the only manufacturer that I have found with headsets that will pair multiple devices.
Short answer is that it simply won't work.
I assume you are talking about paring your bluetooth head set with your phone. It would help if you list the make and model for both of your phone and bluetooth device.
But in general, you put your phone in discovery mode to search for new devices, then you can power up your bluetooth device in pairing mode, usually by holding the power button for a long time while powering on the device util it starts flashing. After a few seconds, both devices should find each other. The phone should prompt you if you want to pair with the device found.
