I own a 2008 holden statesman and i have a problem with headlight globes. Every time i change the globe its always dull i have tried cheap ebay globes right up to $300 h.i.d kits and still dull

Hi Michael The issue you have sounds more like a power/earth supply issue. I'm assuming the light lense and reflectors are in good order. The battery is good and no issues with the charging system. Start with the easy side earth or ground side. Connect a seperate earth from light to battery earth terminal just for test purpose. If light is improved then do the same the otherside. if good then you have an earthing problem.(use a slightly heavier gauge wire than your nomal lighting wire so there is no voltage drop). If no different move to power side disconnect connector to globe check and be sure which is the live terminal on the globe and connect a wire as before from + terminal on battery to positive on globe, light must be bright now. Ist check for loose or burnt terminals ie at connection to globe, battery power/ earth terminals.Check Battery to chassis connections for tightness. If easy to do so remove and and clean an re secure. Check engine to battery/chassis connections if all good you have to move onto the supply from fuse box and any connetions in between this is where it becomes more involved and would advise a qualified person to investigate. good luck

2001 ford ranger , no high or low beam lights

Check the On/Off switch on the dash, steering column, and the steering arm/lever is connected properly and that the lighting cable's are cable connectors are connected and not corroded.
1, To check the Earth: Connect a cable from the earth of the bulb to the chassis/body/ metal part of the car.
2, Using a Test lamp: Disconnect the cable that connects the power to the head light bulb, Connect one end of the test lamp to any one of the connectors at the end of the cable that plug's into the bulb. With the low beam on, only one of these wire's will the light switch turned on will light up the test lamp bulb. If none of the cable's light the test lamp bulb. the problem is in the High beam relay, and possibly the Low beam relay as well.
One Head lamp relay: If one cable show a light in the test lamp, check the earth cable on that lamp.
Two Head lamp relay: If two cable's show a light in the test lamp, check the earth cable on that lamp.
Some of the car's electrical systems use the Steering column as an earth point. Check the switch.
In many cases are what is called Earth return (this means that the positive power (+) is supplied by one wire, and the negative earth (-) is connected via another wire) this is to reduce the problems of the rust effecting the power flow.
Get the wiring loom layout in the Cars book

Cant get power from batt when turn the key

A possible problem, a bad electrical connection, I would remove and clean the battery earth connection to the chassis and the chassis to body. If you connect a volt meter to the battery earth terminal and an earth terminal on the body, then the engine and try to start, you should not get a reading, if you do then there is a bad connection. It is strange connecting the meter across two earths, but if there is a bad connection, power finds the easiest path, which is the meter and it will give a reading, max reading acceptable 0.5 volts

Where can I get a driver for my MLi 691H speakers? I am running XP.

The humming noise could be a earth loop problem.
This is caused by having the speakers/sub woofer connected to one power point and the computer connected to a different power point.
To eliminate earth loop problems, connect both the speakers/sub woofer and computer to only one power point. Connect all your equipment to one power point using a power board.

My Technics Stereo System HD51: I cannot connect my Linn Sondex LP12 turntable to the HD51 tuner/amp because the LP12 has an earthing wire and the HD51 doesn't seem to have a connection point for it....

I'm not sure if your HD51 has a phono connection (two RCA jacks marked as phono input). In case there is one available you can connect your turntable at these connectors. The earthing wire from your turntable (since HD51 has no screw for connecting this cable) can be connected together with one of the RCA at the outter metal. Alternative you can connect the earthing point at any of the back screws cover of the HD51. There is no way to make damage at any of these connections. Make sure that before connecting your HD51 is powered off. After the connection, check that the volume is at the minimum setting and power on the HD51. Start increasing volume slowly. In case a hum comes from the speakers, the earthing point is loosy or the color around the point that the earthing cableis connected prevents the connection.
Check these and in case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

I really have two questons. the first is that the light of the panel on my stereo is always on. whats that from? the other is that i have a sound system in my car. i know its the head unit. when ever my...

Hi There. This may be line noise.

Check that your head unit and amplifiers etc are all earthed to the same earth. ie: If connected to the battery earth then connect all earths to battery, or if connected to body earth then connect all to body earth.

Another thing is to check that your RCA Cable or interconnects are not running with your power wires. This can induce line noise.

If all is correct then get yourself a noise suppressor or a ground loop isolator.

Hope this helps
