Question about Hunter 52" Ceiling Fan With Light And Remote Control

3 Answers

My 52" Hunter Ceiling Fan with remote has been a gem. Last week when one of the light bulbs burnt out, I replaced the bulb, and then neither of the lights (it's a 2 light bulb fan) would come on. The fan works fine! Any idea what could be wrong?

Just so I understand you, are you telling me to take the light bulb apart and reconnect the wires inside, or are you talking about the receptacle itself. I have replaced both bulbs with new ones, thinking they might have shorted out, but still doesn't work. What's your thought now?

I am not comfortable with taking the bulb apart. I replaced both bulbs with new ones and the lights still don't come on, so I think we can rule out the bulb theory, don't you?

I placed both bulbs in another lamp and they both worked. What now?

I forgot to tell you, I then placed the working bulbs back into fan receptacles, but they didn't light up when turned on.

The two bulbs are just having a separate live cable in parallel with the one of the motor.

So since you have mentioned that you had a burned bulb this sometimes causes a short inside the receptacle of the bulb. So you just need to disassemble the receptacle of the burned bulb and check both the wires live and neutral they are loose or disconnect or even melt and disconnect.

Is a simple operation since you need to check only two wires however it not so easy to remove the bulbs and reconnect the wires.

I'm guessing that youv'e gone so far as to test the bulbs so the next 2 things to look at are the wiring to the light assembly or the light switch itsself( if its using a separate switch to turn on the lights without turning on the fan. Since the problem started when you replaced the bulb, I'd look at the wiring harness under the plate where the 2 light receptacles are. You could of possibly jared one of the wires loose. Before taking the plate off make sure you turn off the power to the fan/ light assembly.

Hi,

Please check the new bulb on another socket to ensure that it is in working condition.
We could perhaps do this for both the light-bulbs.

If it is all good then please remove and reseat both the bulbs in the fan and check.

If this doesn't work for you, please comment and let me know, and I will be more than happy to assist you to further resolve your issue.

I will appreciate your feedback and positive rating for this solution.
Thank you.

Compact Flourescents won't work in ceiling fan

Simply use regular bulbs. It sounds like it is switched electronically probably via a dimmer. If the CFL lamps are not specifically labeled dimmable they won't work. I have seen the LED lights work where the CFL lamps will not. If you want to use CFL then replace the dimmer.

Make sure light wire is connected at the ceiling & at the bottom. Otherwise it's probably the receiver. 1-888-830-1326 ( Hunter parts )

Your ghost problem was probably due to a loose connection. The wire has probably come completely loose or the heat from the loose connection has damaged the relay.
