Leica m2 film advance lever is stuck

I have a leica m2 and the film advance wont advance it goes about halfway before it stops upbruptly. It is showing the same signs that a battery operated manual camera does when the battery goes dead and the shutter locks down to prevent exposure

Mandie22,
on this model two strokes are needed to fully advance the film and to set the counter to the next #,
so advance the lever, bring it back and advance again.

Everything seems to function well, actually, I've never used this camera. Got if off of ebay, so maybe I was gypped. Anyways, the film advance lever seems to be stuck. It only goes half way. I can put...

DO NOT force it. It's going to need to be opened up by a technician and checked out. It may, or may not be repairable (or worth repairing). Batteries will have nothing to do with whether or not the wind lever will function. It sounds like the camera has jammed on someone, so they sold it off (probably without stating that little issue). The Chinon cameras aren't especially high-end, you can probably buy 10 new ones for the cost of having that one repaired, but you'll only know by finding a shop and asking.

Film advance shows double exposures and spacing problems. What is the problem?

The film advance mechanism is broken.

Given the very high value of your camera it's definitely not a DIY repair. Although a professional repair will not be cheap, it will definitely make economic sense compared to the cost of replacing your M6, so send it to your nearest official Leica servicing agent.

My Nikon FE film advance lever is stuck. It does not move at all, there is no film in the camera. The repair shop wants $100 to fix it which is more than the camera is worth I think. I would like to do...

Have you tried fresh batteries and setting the shutter speed dial to M90 or m250 whichever you have? If this does'nt work you can remove the camera bottom plate and gently pull a lever away from the advance cog. Some times things get out of sync in there. Sorry I can't be more specific but I did this many years ago. Good Luck.

Pro-S film back doesn't advance film properly.

There is good chance that the back needs a spring replaced. I've seen them fail many times.

My Mamiya RB67 triggers and shutter lease lever works but film advance lever doesn't move. Trigger button fired several times but film advance still showing 1.

This is not the best solution as it indicates a faulty film back. The film should advance without resorting to activating the film-wind release lever. That is only for intentionally advancing a partially exposed roll of film. Make sure the multi-exposure lever is not engaged and that the counter does advance and the red mark disappears as you advance to an unexposed frame.

Film winder jammed halfway throgh a film and i took that film out ( it expired anyway) and i tired to put new one in but i couldnt becuase the film winder wont move do i have to get this repaired?

Check all the batteries. Get fresh ones. If this is a manual, lever-action film advance and you have a camera with a spring-driven shutter you probably have a stripped sprocket and it needs new parts. If you have an electric shutter but there's one spring driven shutter speed as a backup, try that setting. If it is a totally motor driven advance, try checking the drive battery and clean the contacts. If the motor drive is removeable, take it off and try the lever-action advance. Remember, a group of AA cells are only as good as the weakest one. Good luck

35 mm, Minolta X700

Is the re-wind button stuck in? If so it can be released by moving the take-up sprocket manually. If that did not work there is a broken take up gear. This was a common problem with the X700, a white plastic gear was used at the bottom of the take up spool mechanism that just was not strong enough especially when trying to get just one more shot from the roll of film. No new parts are available.

Mamiya RB67 ProS wont trigger or advance

Start by making sure the dark slide is removed, the camera will not fire with it in place. The next step is to check the rotating back to make sure it is locked in either the vertical or horizontal position. Without film in the magazine, the multi-exp lever on the back must be set to show the red dot under the advance lever. You can check the camera without the back by removing the rotating back using the latch on the bottom of the camera
