Question about Dymo LabelWriter Thermal Printer

The blacsk plastic cover to my Dymo 450 Tubo came un-attached. I have no idea to reattach. No directions or manual that explains how to reattach can be found.

    I assume all Dymo label printers are hinged the same. I believe it only gets inserted from some certain angle or position, closed, 90 degrees, something? Try removing and reattaching yours and let me know please.

The sensor cannot be disabled. DYMO printers (including the 450 series) are hard-wired to only work properly with genuine DYMO labels.

Windows vista and dymo labelwriter 450

Here is how to upgrade the software:
1. disconnect the printer and make sure you log in as an administrator. If you need to, back up your contacts: Address Book > Export;
2. uninstall everything that says DYMO (Start > Control Panel > Uninstall) and re-start the computer (back up whatever should be saved);
3. install the latest Windows updates;
4. install DYMO Label 8.5.0: see the download link below(I suggest right-clicking the downloaded file and running it as administrator);
5. connect the printer directly to the computer only when prompted;
7. only use DYMO-made rolls - black stripes on the back, the logo and article number should be there.

Also, please go to Start > Devices and printers > right-click the printer > Printer properties > Ports > clear Enable bidirectional support > OK.

I have a Dymo 450 labelwriter. The platen release lever came off and I can seem to figure how to reattach it.

Here is how I fixed my 450.

You have to open the case, which invalidates the warranty.

First, remove the case front -

Undo 2 long screws (front) and 2 short screws(rear) underneath the case.

Remove side panels and base carefully as there are ribbon connectors to the base which might get damaged.

You will see two metal pins at the left front, partially hidden by a ribbon cable - do not damage the ribbon!

There is a notch on the metal part of the platen lever which goes against the front pin.

The hole in the metal part then gets pressed down until it catches on a groove in the second pin.

Do it in that order or it is likely to just pop off again.

You then spend several hours getting all the bits of the case to fit back together. Put the front on last.

Mine is now working but I accept no responsibility for what happens to yours!

The dymo 450 software says it needs win xp sp2 or better. I verified I am running win xp sp3.

Does the software not install? If not, go out to Dymo's website and download the software directly. They may have had an update since the version that ships on the CD. If it still won't install, give the support team an email. They have always been pretty helpful to me in the past.
