Question about Hoover SteamVac F5914-900 SpinScrub Upright Vacuum
Hello, and thanks for using FixYa.
I'm guessing that the brushes have become jammed, there is most likely hair, or something similar that has build up inside and its preventing the brushes from spinning. Make sure you turn off / unplug the vacuum before you start cleaning it.
If after doing the above the machine has not improved, then most likely either the brushes are not getting power, or the motors have broken - this can happen if it is not cleaned and the brushes are dirty, the motors are under constant heavy stress to rotate the brushes and can eventually burn out.
I would not recommend going further than this at attempting to repair this yourself. If there is a electrician in the house, he or she could use a multimeter to check if power is going to the motors in the bottom. If there is no power down there, the issue might be no connection or broken on off switch.
If the motors get power but don't spin then most likely they are burned out or something is preventing them from rotating.
That is about it. the motors might need to be replaced to new ones.
