Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
Well what I would do is try and use the hard drive in another 360, maybe a friends, and then see if it's actually the hard drive itself. If that 360 works than it must be your xbox, but I have seen this problem before and usually it is the hard drive and you do have to end up getting a new hard drive. See what Microsoft says about it and maybe they'll send you a free one.

There is a requirement for backwards compatibility and that is you have to have a hard drive for your Xbox 360. If you bought a Core system you can't play original Xbox games on your system until you buy a hard drive
