Main board is expensive part of any digital camera and costs around 80% of new camera price, now you can decide easily what to do with that broken camera.

Is it worth paying sony to replace lens block assembly on dsc-w5, 6yrs old, or buy a new camera? When I tirn on camera message says turn on & off again, which I do but does not help. Lens moves back...

Replacement of the lens will cost more than the camera is worth. Try these solutions at the following website before deciding to buy a new camera.

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC S90 lens problem - fix or buy new?

its better to replace a new one than to repair it and besides you will cost alot if you decide to repair it. although if the cost is not that much then go for repairing it.

I cant get my camera to turn on. thanks for your

Fist charger your SONY Cyber-shot DSC-W120 battery and clean the connect place of the battery and camera. Please make sure that the battery has been charged by the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W120 charger. Li-ion batteries life is about 2-3 years, and if you have stored your battery with no power for a long time, the battery maybe has been damaged. When store Li-ion batteries you should charged it at about 40% first.

My DSC f828 sony camera's lens is loose. Sony says it is not worth repairing. Surely there must be a way to fix this ? thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "loose". Does it still take good pictures? If not, then Sony is correct...the camera was introduced in 2003 and the cost of repair would far exceed the camera's worth.

When I turn my camera on, the lens goes in and out and the screen says "Access," then says "turn off and back on" but it never comes on.

Lens of camera is bad and requires replacement that would cost more then camera worth. Best option is to buy another camera.

Sony turn the power off and on again

Your camera is telling you it has a problem. When the camera turns on a series of checks are done, if one fails the camera shuts down. Take a an authorized Sony repair center. As I tell most people today the cost of a new camera makes most camera repairs not worth doing.

I dropped my Sony DSC-W50 camera with the photo shot mode

Some problem in the lens system.
Try to either push in the lens more, or pull on it, if the lens is out at all.
If it continues, sell it for parts, as is on a site such as Ebay.
