Question about Toshiba Satellite C655S5047 156 Notebook PC

1 Answer

Hello, I just purchased your C655 and am fairly new to computers and would like to know what all of the acronyms mean at the top of the key board. Also I am partially deaf and can't find a volume control to turn up the sound. I've gone in and turned up the volume and the mix is maxed out. Is there anyway to turn up the volume and is there a volume control on the key board that I am missing. thank you John

I have a Toshiba laptop model# C655-S5501 with a bad keyboard (Gator Aid!). I can't find an exact model # match through Amazon. Will the "Eathtek NEW Keyboard For TOSHIBA SATELLITE C655-S5128 C655

Check eBay. I've been working on computers for years and order ALL of my replacement keyboards through eBay. I just found 9 of them after entering your model number; about $16 with free shipping. Sarawill82 hit the nail on the head for the replacement; you tube is your friend if you're doing it yourself. If it doesn't have your exact laptop, look at other videos. It will give you an idea what you need to look for to replace the keyboard.

It beats paying a computer store a $45+ bench fee, and it will only take you about 15 minutes as a novice.

Don't try to clean it; you could cause more extensive damage than just replacing the keyboard.

You had better replace your laptop charger. Even if you go to repair it, it will cost you the same price of getting a new charger. So it is wise to purchase a new one. Here are two for your reference:

How do I replace the keyboard?

next to the F1 key and the windows key (2nd upper key and second to last key) are two screws, usually under some covering. unscrew and lift top edge of the keyboard towards the trackpad to lay face down. Undo the wire ribbon by lifting the grey or brown tabs and remove ribbon and keyboard. Then install the new keyboard by inserting the ribbon on the place. Lock down with the tabs and put the plastic prongs (close to the space bar) into the laptop body first, and then close keyboard onto the final position. screw back in and thats all. nboulikas@gmail.com for any additional questions.
