Question about Logitech QuickCam Chat Personal Web Camera

Mic problem Hi! My microphone is not working.

  • Anonymous Jul 02, 2008

I installed Quickcam chat on A DELL Optiplex PIII 933MHz PC, 256Mb RAM, AC'97 sound card, WIN 2000 Professional OS. Version 10 quickcam software installed. Video comes through O.K at lower resolution setting and the microphone does send an amplified audio signal to the ear piece of the bundled headset supplied with the Quickcam. However, I am unable to record sound using the sound recorder on the PC and the Quickcam audio wizard does not receive a signal when configured. The sound card is selected in audio tab of settings/control panel/sounds and multimedia and the microphone is connected to the microphone input of the sound card. The microphone volume is O.K in volume controls.

I am uncertain what might be the problem or how to correct this fault.

    I welcome any suggestions.

Make sure You change the setting In the audio properties in windows. you might have it set for internal sound card.

goto control panel / Sound and audio devices / click on audio

make sure its set for your microphone on the webcam.

some webcam programs will automatically do this, but to be on the safe side, double check it, cheapy wouldnt do this. you might have to resort to doing it manually.

The microphone on my ic014c webcam won't work!

if the microphone has a second cable with a jack plug ..than you have to use it in the pink inlet on the sound card ..and will work ..or in the mic in of the laptop ..
If there is no second cable (split cable ) with jack plug ..it means the mic is using the usb ..and in this case you have to get to the sound settings and select the usb for the mic ..Also select the usb for each instant messaging programs you use..to d that just open the program ...get to the tool options ..and select sound devices and under mic select the usb instead of regular windows default or sound driver ..

I have just brought a Logitec Webcam C120 and cannot get any sound. Do I have to get a microphone? When I do the sound test can't get any recording back.

Hi lynne_law ,

Many people mistakenly think that webcam can be used for audio as well as video transmission.

  1. Webcams don't usually come with microphones , therefore you would require a separate microphone for your voice recordings and voice chats.
  2. I would suggest you get a headset which would have the microphone option as well , or you can get a hand held mic.
  3. Once you get a new mic, you need to connect it to your computer by plugging in the mic in the appropriate slot , and by default the mic should work.
  4. If it does not work , you just need to change the microphone settings using the volume control option or audio settings via control panel.
Hope this helps ... ) Your feedback would be appreciated.
