Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I just had Verizon FiOS installed a week ago. Everything on my Mitsubishi WD-52525 TV was fine until yesterday. When I turned it on the screen was acting up, flashing on and off, going blue and then being restored. The volume cut in and out with the picture. I've read that this is a common problem - but here's the thing. This morning, the TV and all channels work fine, but I still have the annoying message at the bottom of the screen "Check connections or power. The connections for RGBHV or YPrPb may be invalid." How do I get rid of the message?

Hi.

If you expeienced blue picture, volume cutting out and picture going on and off, the problem may be due to a bad cable. Unfortunately in this particular model and chassis, this often results in damage to internal components in terminal board, and sometimes requires repairing at component level.

Troubleshooting goes through three steps. As said, the initial cause for the problem is almost always cables and connections.

1)Reset system.
Reset TV and Verizon box by turning everything off.
While devices are off, check connections.
Connect and start back Verizon box and TV.

2)Check Verizon box video settings.
Change Verizon box definition HDsettings, ensure they are 1080i, test also using 720p.

3)Check and test cables and settings.
To test connections furter, label all cables. The error reported is pointing (as usual) at component cables (the red green blue video only). Ensure that audio is also well connected.
As said, label all cables with numbers, or take a picture of the backpanel, disconnect the cables and connect using different connections, Try first the different component cables inputs on TV.
If that does not fix the problem, connect using HDMI, or RCA (AV) cables.
Remember to turn down TV and box before connecting or disconnecting any cable, or you can damage the TV. Disconnect power cord two mins. to reset TV and box after replacing cables.
Here the backpanel:

4) If all that did not work, then one of the cables shorted and blew the components in therminal board.

Tv goes off, then comes on, and volume goes to max

OMG! Verizon Fios at it again with changing boxes! Well let me tell you if you do not loose signal on a DVD using these same inputs ITS NOT YOUR TV!

Whats going on is further into Verizon system you loosing the signal from the VDSL slam outside in the pill box. This thing will need to be replaced and they are going to blame your TV until you just give up and buy a new TV only to figure out its not your TV.

1. Call them back
2. tell them to check there network
3. if that dont work tell them to check it again
4. if you have HDMI use that instead of the scart connections.

I hope you have luck with Verizon Fios there internet rules but there TV service is sub par!

Thanks

Zoom Function and Verizon Fios TV

On the verizon FIOS tv box, turn the FIOS STB on, and turn on the tv, tap the following buttons on the Verizon FIOS STB )in this order) 1-Power, then Select, then Menu. This will bring up the FIOS STB HD options. Arrow down to 4:3 Bypass and set the bypass option to 480P. Hit power 2 times, once to turn off, second time to turn STB back on. This should on standard channels give you the zoom feature back. This worked on my Samsunf 5053 TV model.

Problems with Mitsubishi WD-52525

When you replace these laps on these TV's they have an internal clock to countdown the lamp usage. After installing the new lamp the TV asked you if you replaced the lamp and you should answer yes. If not its going to ask again. First thing is go through the motion of replacing the lamp take the lamp out etc. then place it back in the set and turn it back on. Follow the on screen instructions and that should reset the lamp timer.
