    Thank you.
The model no. is 7909532201. It might be different for the newer models. It is about 7 yrs. old. we do not have a ohms reader. is there any other way to check? also, is it very expensive to replace? I appreciate the e-mail.

Hi.

Problem is likely the temperature sensor probe, located inside the oven cavity. A test can be done reading Ohms at the probe terminals and jumping the probe.

Model number was incomplete. I think this is your model, please check the number. Here parts and diagrams, please ensure number is correct: 79095322301.

    Hi.

The sensor can also be tested by jumping it, if not done properly in that way you can blow the element. This operation should be done by a technician or by an experienced DIYer.

Part is also less than $10.

The model did not match any of the models in my databases. The range should be same as one of this.

Just use the schematics, and call telling the number to verify before buying.

Part is nr 37 in this diagram, inside cavity.

    Here part: Probe

Oven takes forever to preheat. Only the bottom oven element comes on during preheat.

Try checking the heating elements on the top might have come loose

My Kenmore Elite oven will take over an hour to preheat to 350 degrees and never does get done preheating.

There's a few things that can cause this.

1. Check to see if the both that Bake and Broil elements (burners) are heating up. Check the Broil element in Broil mode.

- during pre-heat the Broil element gets cycled on and off for short time durations to speed up the heating. If the Bake element is not working, then the oven will heat, but very slowly and never reach high temperature.

2. If the elements are both working, then it's possible that you have a bad temperature sensor.

- this is a temperature dependent resistance device that should measure 1080 ohms at 70 deg F (room temp).

3. If #1 and #2 are ok, then the problem is with your oven clock/control unit. We rebuild these at fixyourboard.com.

Kenmore oven lower element sporadically heating.

When the food you're baking is done on top but not on the bottom--or when baking just takes far too long to finish--the bake element may be burned out.

You may get fooled into thinking it's working, because the oven is hot inside. But many electric ovens use the broil element, too, during the preheat and bake cycles. So the food may be getting heated only by the broil element, which causes poor baking results.

If the bake element is burned out, replacing it should solve the problem. Otherwise, you need to further troubleshoot the oven's electrical system to locate the defective wire or component.

Preheat taking long time

If your oven has the hidden bake element then it is probably working properly. A standard oven with an exposed bake element will usually take about 12-15 minutes to preheat. The hidden element models take a little longer but they usually heat a little more evenly.

times quoted seem about right and don't suppose your old oven was much different. element ratings don't vary much for same size ovens
