I have a whirlpool model ED25PWXBN00 refrig and the ice maker is making ice but the part that holds and dispenses the ice has broken and no longer dispenses ice. what part do i need?

That depends if the ice maker continues to fill with water or just sits there with the ice slots empty. Sometimes it is the dual water control valve=> 4318046 Water Control Valve
and sometimes the ice maker itself. Does not hurt to have an extra part of each if you are a ice user like myself. If ice slots are empty fill with tap water and allow to freeze. If the ice drops and slots do not refill with water then replace the dual water control valve. 4317943 Ice Maker Assembly.

My freezer is not freezing anymore please help as can not afford a new one ..thank you

Hi,
Follow the steps mentioned below to solve the problem:
First remove the ice bin and look inside the mold of the ice maker to see if it is full of ice. If the ice sensing arm is down ( on position) and the ice maker is full of ice, there is a failure inside the ice maker and the ice maker should be replaced.
If there is no ice in the ice maker, look at the fill tube on the rear of the ice maker. If the fill tube is frozen up the ice maker can't fill.
You can defrost the fill tube with a hair dryer.
The water valve on the rear of the refrigerator supplies water to the water dispenser and the ice maker. Since the water dispenser is working, the only line that could be blocked runs up the back of the cabinet and attaches to the fill tube for the ice maker. The water valve could be bad and not sending water to the ice maker.
If the fill tube freezes again you should replace the water valve.
Hope this helps.
Shane

Water is not getting to the ice maker well to make ice. water dispense is working fine.

Most likely the water control valve located on rear near floor where fresh water enters the dual water control valve. The part number is 4389177 and it has a coil to open the dispenser and a coil to open the ice maker side. You can test your ice maker by filling with tap water and if the water freezes and the ice dumps and the valve does not open you can bet on the valve. If nothing happens then the thermostat is out most likely in the ice maker. Thanks, Sea Breeze

My ice maker has stopped working, the water continues to dispense thru the door yet the ice has stopped

Most likely the water control valve on the rear of the refrigerator is defective for the ice maker side of the valve. Try filling the ice maker with tap water and let freeze. If the ice drops and cycles and does not refill then the water valve is the problem. If the ice maker does nothing when you try this the ice maker is the reason. Send me your model number and I can tell you the parts that need replaced. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Auto Ice maker in Whirlpool fridge, not producing ice. I suspect the water feed line might be frozen since it was working fine two days ago. I haven't heard the water fill and the tray is empty.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

ICE MAKER

Your ice maker works off a different side than the water dispenser. Most times the water control valve is the problem yet it has 2 sides one for water and the other for ice. You can check the ice maker by filling with tap water. Let it freeze and if it dumps the ice and tries to refill I would say the water control valve part number 4389177 will need to be replaced. Whirlpool side by side refrigerator

hi there,

the freeze-up is caused by either a kink in the water line or a blocked air vent. check for both.
