We are having a neff oven U15M62NOGB fitted. The wires in the booklet are earth on the left, live in the middle and neutral on the right. Is this correct as the neutral and live are the other way round on the old oven

Hi there i'm a qualified electrician and the answer to your question is simple, if the manufacturer has marked the terminals for connection the follow those markings. not all connections are the same on every model of oven. hope this helps you with your problem

Yes, the installation instructions are correct. The wiring from your old oven isn't relevant.

Your query is a little confusing though. The new oven should have a power cable attached to it for connection to the mains supply. This should be on a separate circuit from your sockets and connected to an isolator switch. The wires in the power cable are colour coded to ensure that they are correctly polarised when connecting to the mains supply. I'm assuming you're in the UK as you list a GB model number, therefore, it should have a BROWN wire for LIVE, BLUE for NEUTRAL and GREEN/YELLOW for EARTH.

If your house wiring uses the old red (live) and black (neutral) colour coding, then you just need to ensure that the brown (live) wire from the oven lead is connected where the red wire from the supply is terminated. The blue (neutral) wire should be connected where the black wire is terminated and the green/yellow (earth) wire should be connected where the green wire is terminated.

Internally, the oven probably uses red cable for live and black for neutal, but you really shouldn't need to be doing anything with the internal wiring to install the oven.

You say you are having it fitted. Any competent installer would know (or check) the correct wiring order even if the instructions were missing. If you are installing it yourself, be sure are certain you understand what to do before attempting this and double-check the power for the oven circuit is off before you start.

Please rate this solution if you find it helpful. Thanks.

Hi, Looking for a wiring/electrical diagram for Neff D39F56S0GB Extractor hood. Or could you Kindly point me in the right direction. Thank you

You can find the manual here:

D39F56S0GB/01

and here:
D39F56S0GB/02

It should come with a cable attached which should conform to standard wiring colour codes.

Red/Brown = Live/Feed
Black/Blue = Neutral/Return
Green/Green & Yellow = Earth

If the standard cable has been cut off there is a good chance it was for a reason and you shouldn't try to connect it without knowing how to determine which contact is for which (an electrician/electronics tech will know within seconds what should be connected where.)

Neff oven wiring diagram

It does not really matter which wire goes where. The red one would be live and the blue would be neutral, but on an oven element they could go on either terminal. Just make sure that everything is turned off when working on the oven etc.

I tried to fix the wiring in an external light. Did the job, but with bad connections, put in bulb and switched on. Blew fuse and now the switch will not turn off and I am left with a live wire in front of...

Switch contacts fused together

In most external fittings there is a live coming from the switch a neutral going back to the lighting ring main and an earth wire for protection

You are not competant to be rewiring any house wiring , the statement about the earth wire proves that.

No earth is akin to jumping into a lake without a life preserver on

Get an electrician involved before you burn the house down

HI Zuso,

Use your original wire and hook up Left to right Line Neutral, and Ground. L N G. Black wire is Line. Green wire is Ground. not sure what UK uses for Neutral. I just know that you need a big wire. And the voltage is supposed to be 220-240Volts.
