For forms, open a data table in view mode, while there locate the forms setup wizard. For your first try just answer the questions the best you can for the wizard. When there are no more questions to answer wizard will create a form for you. From what you learn doing that you may get enough hints to make a form from scratch. Just keep in mind you always build a form from the fields in a table.
Now for the Query, start out the same way and use the wizard. Query to most folks means ask a question and get an answer. In access query is a way to present sub sets of data or ways to modify data in the fields of your tables.

The repair method attempts to recover only the tables, indexes and queries in the database. Do not attempt to repair damaged forms, reports, macros and modules. Before executing the Compact and Repair tool, please ensure the following condition:

1. Do not Open Access database must closed
2. Sufficient storage space available - minimum double in size of your Access database on that Disk.

While there is no RANK command in Access, you may still do it using either VBA code or two queries concatenated. Lets touch the queries method since based on your question you seem to prefer the straight query method.

You have to modify the query to add a custom field based on a field containing a value that can be evaluated using either the GREATER THAN (>) or the LESS THAN (

How to invoke a ms.access using parser


To parse a Text field that contains two words separated by a comma, follow these steps:
  1. Open any existing database.
  2. Create a table with the following structure: Table: Parse2Words
    ------------------
    Field Name: Empl
    Data Type: Text
  3. View the Parse2Words table in Datasheet view and type the following three records in the Empl field: Smith, John
    Callahan, Laura
    Fuller, Andrew
  4. Create the following query based on the Parse2Words table: Query: QueryTest

    Field: FirstName: Right$([Empl],Len([Empl])- InStr(1,[Empl],",")-1)

Relationships

After you've set up multiple tables in your Microsoft Access database, you need a way of telling Access how to bring that information back together again. The first step in this process is to define relationships between your tables. After you've done that, you can create queries, forms, and reports to display information from several tables at once.

A relationship works by matching data in key fields - usually a field with the same name in both tables. In most cases, these matching fields are the primary key from one table, which provides a unique identifier for each record, and a foreign key in the other table. For example, teachers can be associated with the students they're responsible for by creating a relationship between the teacher's table and the student's table using the TeacherID fields.

Having met the criteria above, follow these steps for creating relationships between tables.
  1. In the database window view, at the top, click on Tools ---> Relationships
  2. Select the Tables you want to link together, by clicking on them and selecting the Add Button
  3. Drag the primary key of the Parent table (Teacher in this case), and drop it into the same field in the Child table (Student in this case.)

    • When the Cascade Update Related Fields check box is set, changing a primary key value in the primary table automatically updates the matching value in all related records.

Access 2000 database won't compact and repair.

You are in luck. I had the same problem a while back. Most of the time you will not be able to compact and repair a database that has reached capacity, however, you can import the database into a new one. The first thing you are going to have to do is find a very large table in your database and copy it into a new one. Then, delete that table from your old database. Now, open another new database. Go to the file menu and choose import. Now you must find your database in the directory and click it. Now choose one of the given options (tables, queries, etc.). Then, Press control + a to select all items. Now hit okay and it will import all of the items from your old database from that section into the new one. You must do this for each section (tables, queries, etc.). When everything is imported (should take less than an hour), compact and repar the new database. This will give you additional space to work with. Now you can bring in the table that you copied into a new database earlier the same way (import). This should put you back in business.
I suggest creating a 2nd database for any other data you may want to add later. You can always make link tables and such in your old database in order to get the additional data and prevent crashing your old database.

Stored Procedures don't exist in MS Access. You do have the following options though. Queries, which are just select or action queries. VB Code, which you can write using Query Objects as if you were writing a Visual Basic application. These can be Functions or Subroutines. In these, you would use the standard programming techniques with while and for loops, etc.

You can create complex situations combining the two of these. A function in the VB code area can accept through parameters, the single values (line by line, record by record) in a query and act on them and manipulate the values.

For example: create a query that does a select phone from address. Create a function in vb called public function StripDashesInPhone(Phone as string) which then uses VB coding to strip dashes from each phone value passed in. To make it all work, in the query on one of the field columns put "NewPhone: StripDashesInPhone([Phone])" and for every record processed in the query, the function is called with the [Phone] field value passed in to the function and the action is processed and returned.

Other than writing a function that is activated by a form button click, which opens the current db and opens a table and process it, just like in VB, this is about as close to cursors and oracle procedures as you get.
