The engine may be flooded--take the plug out, turn the saw upside down, and pull the starter rapidly a few times with the throttle full on. If flooded, a fuel spray will likely come out of the plug hole. Make sure the ignition is OFF when doing this--you don't need a fuel fire! Is the spark at the plug blue and snappy (plug gap set to 0.020")? Replace the plug and see if it will run. Make sure the air filter is clean. Hope this helps!

Very good advice. But one more important thing, make sure the fuel is fresh. Old fuel is common problem of small engines, proper mix is important too.

Motor mower wont start

By tipping a 4 cycle motor on a lawn mower or any equipment, you have all the oil and gas running into the combustion chamber and sometimes the oil and WATER will get into the tank. It will need too have the spark plug removed, the engine turned over with the starter to blow the oill, gas, and water out of the cylinder(s), the plug should be either dried and gap reset, and the gas tank drained and FRESH gas put in it. Replace the spark plug prime with just a few drops of gasoline in the carburetor throat and restart and let run to dry evrything. NOTE: An oil change is recommended, too!!

Where are the Spark Plugs located in a 2004 Lincoln Navigator?

Hello, first how many miles do you have on this Lincoln? On that 4.6 L V8 engine they do have spark plugs but each plug has it's own spark coil located on a long rubber plug. You will see four little coils on each side of the engine. There will wires going in to the individual coils. There will be a bracket the holds the coils in place with a small 9 or 10 mm nut. Remove the nut, and gently pull on eac coil. There Hello, first how many miles do you have on this Lincoln? If you have over 120 thousand miles on this engine then it might need new spark plugs. There will wires going in to the individual coils. There will be a bracket the holds the coils in place with a small 9 or 10 mm nut. Remove the nut, and gently pull on each coil. There a long rubber plug that fit in each spark hole. These rubber plugs are about 4 1/2 to 5 inches long.

Before removing the plug use an air hose with 50 to 60 lbs of pressure to blow each spark plug hole out which might have foreign object in the hole. Why, if you remove the spark plugs, and there is foreign material in that plug hole. Guess what, that stuff will fall into the combustion camber.

Then you will really have some problem. How fix if stuff fall into the combustion camber.

Squirt small amount of oil in the combustion camber, unplug all the coils and clear out there plug hole. Now remove all the spark plugs. Now, you can crank the engine and will the little amount in that cylinder that has the junk in it. The oil will wet the foreign debrie, and blow it out the spark plug hole. Then use a clean rag with with some oil it with a long screw driver to clean that spark plug hole Be careful that don't push the foreign material back into the combustion camber. Do this several time with little amount of oil.

Now, you can install the new spark plugs. On the spark plugs threads use some anti-shiz grease. Why squirt oil into the combustion camber? The oil is used to seal the rings on the piston to increase the cylinder compression. Just a small amount goes a long ways. GB...stewbison

I've put a new sparkplug and new filter -but the blower won't start . Doesn't even feel like it wants to start

Put a spoon full of gasoline straight down the plug hole. Reinstall the plug, if it starts then you obviously have a fuel problem. You may need a new kit installed in the carburetor. Easy fix.

Won't start, won't fire after starting fluid is used, checked spark and its blue and very small. Has new plug. Suspect bad magneto, can it be tested? Thanks Don't know model, label on handle says Poulan...

First off you should never use starting fluid on a 2 cycle engine. Serious damage to the piston and combustion chamber could result. Try changing the spark plug and if it's neccessary to prime to start use a squirt bottle with the same fuel/oil mixture as required to run your machine. Try squirting a small amount into the combustion chamber through the spark plug hole. Squirt, replace spark plug, and start. Starting fluid also washes the cylinder of an oil and it could cause a siezure of the piston.

I have a 1999 gmc Yukon it is getting fuel and spark i even sprayed starter fluid in the intake but it still wont start it turns over good but wont start

ok make sure you have good fuel pressure
you must have good spark must fire a spark tester
if all that is good then check compression
and don't use STARTER FLUID on a GAS ENGINE it can blow a hole through the piston
hope this helps

You need a few things for a combustion engine to work. Firstly you are going to need to know a little about engines and how they work.
Fuel - try draining the tank and putting fresh fuel in it - fues does go stale. This will include fuel in the carburetor so that needs drained too. There was liquid, assuming water in the oil, perhaps it is in the fuel too.
Fire - do you get a spark to the spark plug? Pull the plug out and see if you get spark when trying to start - remember the earth of the spark plug needs to be touching the grounded metal such as the engine or frame. Perhaps the electricals have been water damaged.
Air - clean out the air filter and surrounds.
You have already drained the oil and replaced it - good start.
Maybe something has corroded since it has been in the weather for so long.
If it still does not want to start, try pulling out the plug & trying to start - is anything spitting out the spark plug hole? If so, what?
Once that is clean and clear and it still doesn't start but you have spark, try putting a bit of fuel carefully in the plug hole, say half a tablespoon.
How does that go?
