Question about InFocus LP70+ Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

I have a 6year old infocus LP70 projector. its footstopped gripping, so i opened the case and bodged a permanent pastic knob to keep at an APPRPRIATE LEVEL - BU i SEPARATED TWO WIRES ON THE LINK BETWEEN BOARDS - NOT SURE I REPLACED THEM CORRECTLY OR EFFECTIVELY. the projector fires up but there is no display of native menu or input signal. given that my "repair" is non standard and that the machine is 6 years old, am i best off scrapping it and choosing a new one? - or is there some residual bulb value? thanks for yor help john

If you are talking about the ribbon connection on the rear of the main board, then yes I would scrap it unless you want to try and find a LP70 on E-bay to use for parts. You may or may not get a good board but if the price is under 50 bucks it may be worth the risk.

Go here: https://portal.infocus.com/support/Product%20Pages/downloads.aspx?mic=LP70%2b&on=downloadsthen down load the file then find the text document "D3 D3+ firmware upgrade instructions.pdf" in C:\LP70plus\002-0870-08\I , or where ever you saved it. That will give you the complete instructions on how to upgrade.

Light does not come on, fan is working and green light at top keeps blinking off and on on a LP70 infocus projector

if you hear a high-pitched whir, the problem is either the ballast or the lamp. if you don't, it's the colorwheel. you could try to get the parts from an infocus service center or send it in to them for repair. either way, try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com

LP70 Infocus Projector light will not start up

if you don't hear a high-pitched whir, the colorwheel needs to be replaced. if you do, it's either the lamp or ballast. if the lamp is new, replace the ballast. you can get the parts if you want to do it yourself, or you'll have to send it in. either way, try av solutions in ny. they are an infocus service center and they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com

InFocus LP70 projector is running hot

clean the dust out of it with canned air. the dust keeps in the heat that the projector is trying to expell. it also shortens the life of the lamp.

Infocus LP70 - It's all Green

A tinted image (whether green or another color) is almost always a symptom of a bad or damaged cable - or a loos cable connection. In your case, you'll likely need a new M1 to VGA cable (Part# SP-DVI-A-R).

Assuming that you've made sure that the cable connections are solid at both ends, there is a simple test to verify that this is a cable issue and not a costly projector issue. While the image is tinted green, open the menu. If the menu colors appear fine while the rest of the image is still tinted green it's the cable.
