Try addressing the vertical problem first. If the vertical IC has shorted, it can prevent the set from starting properly. That being said, it is also possible that there is a power supply problem (regulator) that was not providing the proper voltages for the vertical circuit. If that is the case, addition troubleshooting needs to be done with test equipment. Figure on a parts cost between $12-$25. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair cost.

Need to know where to set low power set up for amp thanks

There is no specific dead key setting for an ampifier. Each amplifier requires different dead key to operate at it peak effeciency AND to sound the best it can. If I knew what type of amp it was I could give you a better idea. Just for a reference point I will give you these numbers. For your basic amplifier ( 2 pill - 4 pill non high-drive) you could safely set the carrier at 1 - 3 watts. This is why the majic number for most people is a 2 watt dead key. For a High-Drive amplifier you really have a broad range of settings for deadkey. Generally anywhere between 2 - 8 watts. Some can even handle 10 watts. This DOES NOT mean that they need a HIGH dead key to operate properly. Just FYI, what you run into with improper dead key is either a really choppy, splattery, overmodulated sound with a deadkey that is to low, OR, a really pinched up, tight sound with a dead key that is to high. Also, a HIGH dead key can cause an amplifier to over heat, causing the transistors (pills) to fail prematurely.
To set your dead key "properly" you really should have a technician "match up" the radio with the amplifier. This means, he will hook up the radio and amp that you plan to use with one another in line and tune (set dead key) the radio to "match" the amp. This will give you the optimal audio and performance without overdriving the amp.
Hope this helped. Lost Jeep, Athens GA, 10-7 !!

Need info wont turn on

the set will not operate with out proper vertical signal/deflection. you may have bridged pins together when resoldering. use a 25w or 35w soldering iron so as not to lift copper traces from pc board. always use solder wick to remove old solder and DO NOT keep on pad to long. mch

Sound but no picture, menu looks bowed/hourglass screen

This is a common problem on projection sets and if you have someone carefully resolder the pins of the convergence chips, it will probably solve your problem. If you continue to use the set, the amps will fail and leave a dead set condition. What needs to be done is to disconnect the power, remove rear cover, loosen all snug wiring making sure to mark any wires that you disconnect, remove screws holding chassis in and undo plastic hooks at front of chassis, access bottom of circuit boards and with low wattage soldering iron resolder convergence amps, reinstall chassis and rehook all plugs in original places especially ground wires and high voltage leads, and test. If the soldering iron is too powerful it will damage the chips, also, be sure each solder joint is clean and not touching the one next to it or you will fry circuitry. Hope this helps. Russmann.

Hand set goes dead

Next time it goes dead, try wiggling the cord where it plugs in the handset and where it plugs into the phone. If the problem goes away, you will need a new cord.

Hope this helps, and if so, please rate my advice.

My mobile set is dead

1-888-NOKIA-2U or http://www.nokiausa.com/A4433809 I would first check to see if its under warranty or if you have insurance on your mobile use it. sounds like its dead Mate. you really cant reformat or reset without turning it on, try powering it on while its plugged in the wall also.

Vertical hold

You dont have enough vertical sweep!! Best thing to check is the vert output device and I think its an IC . BUT before that check the b+ going to that device and see if its low. I will run through a silicon diode right next to the ic. Measure both sides of the diode and if theres a big voltage drop then the diodes bad. Now also these sets are common for the b+ filter cap off thge flyback transformer. Its the voltage line that feeds that diode and the vert output section. Now measure all caps out of cucuit as most will measure good if you dont. Also just for giggles right nrxt to the big IC that has the vert ,horizontal video and sound drive there is if im not mistaking the vert parts start with c4-- or the ic will be ic4-- Its a small cap that will sayc4-- attached to nothing but the ground and one pin of the ic. I've seen this cap cause all sorts of vert problems in the past as its the vert waveshaper capacitor for the vert osc/drive. Good Luck

TV screen comes in and out when first turned on.

is the video going in and out or is the whole set with the sound going off as well. If the sound stays its a cold solder connection on the vert output device or the B+ line feeding the ic or if the whole set is going on or off its a cold solder connection on the Horizontal driver transformer. Without more info its hard to tell.
