I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500 LCD TV (11months old) that does not show a picture when turning on from standby. Sometimes it only gives sound for a shot while then automatically reverts to standby. the red standby button flashed 14 times between a 2 second pause. Please advise how it can be fixed

Probably there is a problem on the power supply section of your tv the cause of it is a deffective bulging capacitors.replace all the bulging capacitors from the power supply.

I would check the menu settings and reset everything to default. if there are calibration tests in the menu, use them. Try more than one source for video.

Buzzing/fizzing noise from back of sony flat screen tv

Below is an image of rear side of your TV, Sony KDL-40W5500
Top right corner is marked there and possible cause of noise seems back light inverter board, there are high voltage going to CCFL inside LCD panel and seems high voltage leakage causing that buzzing/ fuzzing noise.

Replace back light inverter board upon voltage leakage confirmation.
Thanks.

Sony bravia kdl-52w3000, turn tv on, no picture or

Most likely this is caused by a defective main board. Changing the main board will fix the issue about 95% of the time.

To be absolutely sure, the voltages need to be checked on the power supply. If they are not the values listed in the service manual, then you should replace the power supply instead (accounts for the other 5% of the time).

Sony KDL40S2010 Bravia LCD TV... turns off / on on it's own

If TV does not remain in standby and turns on itself then power switch on top of it could be defective and power supply board is also suspected. Take off its back cover and unplug top switch connector just to confirm is that cause of On-Off its own. If problem still exist then power supply board has problem and will be replaced. Let me know the results to move forward.

Picture freezes on Sony Bravia 46 in

this can be a weak signal check the connections on cables. also in hot weather you can get a build up of static electricity and it will need to be discharged, turn off tv at mains and cross the connector and the cables if you have a buster or other box connected to them turn off and do the same to them. use something metal but make sure there is no power to them.
