Question about Rio Carbon MP3 Player
Hi, the nag screen "The semaphore timeout period has expired" is showing up because the file copy retrial time out limit is being reached & hence the error. (A firmware Problem)
But this normally occurs after your unit has frozen during file transfer or there about.
It is possible that the unit is defective. But first, re flash the firmware and then try again. You have to upgrade the firmware of the unit and you can do this while downloading the utility from the support page HERE.
If that does not solve the problem, you have no choice that to contact Rio directly to help fix the unit...

Tips for a great answer:
It sounds as if you have a faulty USB drive, depending on your Operating System, MS Windows / Linux, uninstall the USB drivers under device manager which could be found in the control panel on Windows XP/Vista/7, restart the computer and reinstall the driver's if they don't install back by themselves. But before you start try using your thumb drive on another computer. If you get the same problem, try to reformat the thumb drive, but before you do, be aware that all your information will be lost, and will not be able to be recovered without the appropriate recovery tools.
