Question about Whirlpool LSB6200KQ Top Load Washer

1 Answer

My washing machine will fill, but just makes a humming noise and does not agitatewhen the agitating cycle starts. It smells like melting wiring. If I push the timer button in and turn it to spin cycle it will spin just fine, and empty the water out of the tub. I swapped the motor out and it still has the same issues.

It could be the agitator clutch dogs that are worn out. Best off to call a certified service technician.

Washing machine was making noise when agitating & spinning

This sure sounds like a bad transmission. Turn the transmission by hand to feel and listen to it. It should be smooth and quiet.

GE washing machine does not run, gives humming noise

A washing machine is a simple product.

When trouble shooting anything you have to know what is supposed to do and what is it not doing.

At the begining of a washing machine cycle the machine fills with water until a switch is made telling the machine it is full and ready to agitate. Since it never fills it will stick in that part of the cycle.

When you start a cycle and no water enters the drum you have one of three problems:

1. The water supply is shut off.
2. The solenoid valve that supplies the water is not opening.
3. No power to the washing machine.

Since you are hearing a hum, the machine seems to be trying to activate that valve,
The humming noise comes from the electromagnetic field that activates the valve,
