I have an Oster Golden A-5 one speed that I bought 20 yrs ago. I have lost the manual and need to know if I can oil this unit and if so how? Thanks, Lorrietis

Here how you can oil your A-5 clipper, The button on the side of the clipper is the oiler, depress the button down with a small screw driver and while holding the button down, use Oster clipper oil it will take about 4 to 5 drops of oil. after you are finish wipe clean with paper towel and turn on your clipper, let it run for about 2 minutes. Turn your clipper off and you are done. We hope this will help you Thank You. Manny's Sharpening www.mannyssharpening.com

My clippers are frozen. They don't vibrate but the motor turns on.

Hi, How long have you been using the clippers? In my experience they can get clogged with hair quite quickly depending on the animal. I'd recommend removing the blade to better get at the hair stuck between the blades. Once the blade is off lubricate the appropriate parts following the guide in your operating manual. It's best to do this soon before the motor burns out. If you feel that the blades are too clogged, it's easy to buy a replacement blade for around 1/3 the price of a new clipper set.

Oster A-5 Golden clipper blade is not flush against the clipper so wont clip you have to hold the blade down tight so it will clip.

see if the blade and hinge have moved away from the body of the clipper, the two screws either side of the hinge assembly may need tightening, or the main body may need replacing,
If its just one blade then there must be a problem with that blade.

How do you put on a blade when you took it off?

There is a picture of an oster clipper in the picture so I assume you are talking about an A5 style blade/clipper. Hold the clipper with the hinge facing you, if the hinge is open, then turn the blade so the blade number is facing up and slide it onto the open hinge, start the clipper and push the blade down to shut it. If the hinge is not open, prize it open with a flat head screwdriver. www.sheaeaseltd.com

Blades fell off oster dog clippers but can't fit them back on. Please help !!

Assuming that you did not damage anything, the blades should go back on easily.
Slide the blade onto the hinged flat 'post'. Turn the clipper on. Fold closed the blade assembly into position against the clipper body.

If this does not ork, you must have damaged something.

OK AS FAR AS OIL YOU CAN OIL THE BLADES, AND ON THE SIDE OF THE CLIPPERS THERE IS A STRAIGHT SLOT TENSION SCREW TURN IT ON AND ADJUST THE SCREW TO THE PROPER SOUND AND FEEL THEN THE MOTOR WILL SLOW DOWN AND NOT GET SO HOT SO QUICK. I HOPE THIS HELPS.

Oster Golden A5 keep turning themselves off whilst I'm clipping

Ok turn your clipper on and hold it still in one hand whilst with the other hold the cable near the end of the clipper and bend it, rotate and twist if your clipper cuts in and out you have a break in the cable which is tricky to fit but our web site Help section can help.
