You need to first install and setup the external display properly before removing the internal/system display.

Put acer aspire 5734z to sleep mode and wont turn on next day

First thing to try:

Remove your battery and charger, hold the power button for 10-15 seconds. Plug the laptop into mains ONLY leaving the battery out. Try powering it up.

If the laptop powers up ok, shut-down and re-insert your battery. You should find your laptop will continue to work fine for the foreseeable future, this kind of issue is a common occurrence on laptops.

If not I would then try re-seating your RAM/Memory, if that doesn't work and you have more than one stick remove one at a time to see if either one is causing the problem. If you have only one stick find a replacement to test your laptop with.

If you are still finding the same issues with the laptop I would then proceed to reseat all components of laptop, including the CPU.

If the issues continue I would then remove all non-essential components one by one, each time attempting to power the laptop. At worst you will eventually end up with just the mainboard, CPU, RAM and an external monitor plugged into the mainboard, that still doesn't function correctly. I would then conclude your mainboard needs replacing.

Toshiba a305 Screen Blank on Power up.

Yes, the first step would be to use an external monitor. You may have to use the FN key with a function key to tell it to use the external monitor. If the external monitor works, try shining a bright flashlight on the display. If you can see images, then the display itself is probably OK and either the back light or inverter are bad.

If the external does not work and shining a light on the display does not show images, then it could be graphics card or main board.

Does the laptop make any noises? e.g. Can you hear fans, hard drive, does the CD light come on during boot up. If yes, to all the above, then the mainboard seems to be OK and it could be graphics or display. If unsure, you can remove the RAM chips and it should beep upon startup to say there is no memory and this is a good indication that the mainboard is functioning somewhat.

Good luck and post your results for further help and to let me know if you have figured it out.

Display chip in the motherboard is not functioning in my Acer Aspire 1410-8414 Net book

If it's still in warranty, then Acer will fix it free of charge.

If not in warranty, disconnecting and reconnecting the cable that joins the display to the mainboard may fix it. It may be a dirty connection, a dead inverter board, or even dead backlight (incorporated into the lcd panel itself) or the entire lcd could be shot. It could also be the onboard video chip. Also try connecting the netbook to an external monitor. If you power the netbook on with an external monitor connected, it should light up the external monitor. Also, it may not be the display...... Try removing and reseating the ram. Try just one ram chip if there is more than one. The unit may just also be dead (mainboard). Try the warranty route first. Acer also has a flat fee they charge to do a mainboard in Canada ($199). Call Acer first.

Hope this helps! Let me know how you make out.

Acer aspire 9300 screen doesn't show . it powers on but the screen is still black. its not two years old yet.

You got two year warranty on it? My acers have always had only 1 year warranty.

The laptop is most likely unable to start up. In most cases its a hardware issue, should take the laptop to a local professional for a check or if your in warranty contact acer.

Possible reasons could be bad memory, overheating, failed mainboard, failed video adapter, loose contact between display and mainboard.

You can try reseating the memory in the bottom of the laptop, it will be covered with 2 screws.

Remove them, and take out the ram from the computer, make sure they are clean, do not use water, or clean them, you can use the eraser end of a pencil to clean the contacts on the memory modules.

Place them back in and make sure they are in the right away, only handle them from the sides.

If the problem still remains, unplug and remove battery again, (might aswell keep the battery removed untill the issue is solved.)

Remove both ram modules from the laptop.

Start up the laptop with no ram at all, it may beep or complain, or it may do noting, unplug after 1 minute.

Plug in the other memory card, plug the machine to power, try starting up, if it works, turn it off and place in the other aswell, turn on and see if the machine works, if it does, problem solved. If it does not work.

Remove both ram modules, try the other memory on both slots and try starting up each time, remember to unplug power every time.

If the problem remains then do the same with the other memory module try it on both slots.

Next thing you could check at home is the cables between the display and the mainboard, you can also check the display in a dark room or under a light and see if there is picture on the display but no backlight, in that case the issue could be the cables between the mainboard and the inventer or the inventerboard or the backlight itself.

This will require repair in any case take it to a local professional.

Screen will not come on

More details will help, if you can see a faint image then its either your lcd or inverter. The below info is if it shows a very faint image if you look at the screen in the light.

Normally this is caused by the power inverter for the lcd2.gif.It is a small circuit board right below the lcd, that powers thebacklight. If you take off the front bezel of the laptop you should beable to see it, it will have a 2 wire power cord coming out the oneend, and another plug in2.gif on the other end with several wires.

9 times out of 10 the problem is just the inverter going out, check ebay for a replacment but make sure you get an identical model as the one you have, as they are very specific to each laptop. The inverter will have the part number written on it.

Hear power on, black screen. wont do anything.

- try to connect you machine to an external monitor
- if the display appears on your external monitor the problem would be the LCD screen of your laptop (need to replace it)
- if there is no display on both laptop and external monitor i suspected it's the motherboard faulty
- send your laptop to service center to replace it (if it is underr warranty it's free

Samsung laptop black screen

Sounds like a loose connection between your mainboard, inverter or LCD. Try to connect an external monitor and see if the display appears to the external monitor. If a display appears on the external monitor, you need a qualified technician to check your laptop. I fixed 3 laptops with that same symptoms, 1 has loose connector, 1 has ground problem and the other is an inverter.
