Question about Dyson DC07 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
Hi, Thanks for using FixYa! My name is Don/ If your brushbar wont turn and the belt is definatley fitted correctly then there is a problem with the brushbar itself. If the brushbar is old then they can be affected internally by clogging up. Assuming you have the "Clutch" version of Dyson. This is one that has a spiral brushbar. There are 2 types of brushbar, 1 for the Clutch Version and 1 for the Non Clutch version. Either way you will need to replace the brushbar. Please watch the video....

WAIT!!! Don't replace the entire clutch yet... I just had the same problem. Before buying a new clutch assembly, I took the out the clutch just to make sure I could do it (the link previously mentioned is great: http://www.dysonmedic.com/DC07%20Folder/DC07%20Clutch%20replacement.html). In the process, I also opened the clutch at the wide end (two screws and a little retaining clip on the side - can watch a video as to how to disassemble the clutch here: http://www.ezvacuum.com/dyson-dc04-dc07-and-dc14-belt-pack-for-clutch-system-90251401-2-pack-p-2196.html?currency=USD). In the "lid" you will see a little black plate (looks like the same material that a car breakpad is made out of). If the clutch is the problem this plate will look a little worn down. It can be removed and flipped over. You'll get a few more years out of it. Of course, when the second side wears out, you'll have to get a new clutch (but by then maybe the the entire vac will need replacing anyway). Enjoy.

Testimonial: "thanks very much for your insight and practical money-saving tip! Bob"
SOURCE: Our dyson beater bar won't spin.
DC14s actually have two belts, but one of them is difficult to get at or even see without some dismantling.
Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com which has some very useful info on dismantling and repairing Dysons.
Although this site doesnt actually cover the DC14 yet, the DC14 is very similar to the DC07 so as regards dissassembling the machine, my experience is that the DC07 info will enable you to do the job.
