My computer is sick. I cant get my icons on the desk top. When on at any time the following comes on the screen" an error has occurred int he script on this page". I also get a message that as me to switch or retry, but nothing happens. This comes up several times. Pop ups of everything. I never had these issues before. When I am not on line playing a game, the game will shut down and pop ups occur.

If anti-virus scan doesn't work, you need to wipe your hard drive and re-load windows. If you don't know how to do this, bring it to your local computer shop.

I HAVE A WINDOW XP HOME EDITION AND WHEN I START MY COMPUTER THE ONLY THING THAT COMES UP IS THE BACKGROUND. THERE ARE NO ICONS OR A BAR AT BOTTOM OF SCREEN.

the icons and the bar(task bar) at the bottom of the screen are enabled by the explorer.exe file

it starts automatically but in your case it is not starting

to start it when your computer starts and comes at the desktop, press alt+ctrl+delete button at the same time to bring up the task manager

when you do this a task manager shows up in a window

in task manager window click on file, it will be located on the top left portion on task manager

now click on "new task(run)"

this opens another window, in that window type
"explorer"
without the quotes "" and press enter
this will bring you icons and task bar at the bottom of the screen

If what you ment was for desk top icons, then on desktop, right clik and go to Arrange Icons and uncheck Auto Arrange so that you could move the icons manually any where on the desk top.Cheers.

My computer wont start up

First try pressing F2 at start up to see if you can get to setup. Also pressing F12 may get you a boot menu. If cd is already set as first boot you may get a chance to boot from a Windows cd. The idea here is to get to a minimal Windows configuration like setup or safe mode (F8) to see if this is a hardware or operating system fault. Two common issues with eMachines are power supply problems where repetitive reboots can actually fry the motherboard or if the PC has a few years use the CMOS battery. Steve Medley

I had a home network set up between 2 Dell Dimensions computers Computer 1.) which as the broadband modem and Netgear Router on it "this computer is a windows xp". Computer 2.) with the Belkin...

Assuming you can't get it to run from the desktop icon, as long as the driver is installed which it should be, you don't need Belkin software to run your connection.

the easiest way in Vista is to go to control panel>network and sharing centre and see if network discovery is ticked green.

If not on top left of window is connect to a network, then see if your wireless connection is listed, if so click connect, if not at the bottom of the window, click set up a connection or network and follow the wizard.

NO, I-cons on start up

It sounds like your profile might be corrupted but it doesn't make sense that rebooting will sometimes fix your problem. The next time your icons don't show up, right click on the desktop and select "Refresh" to see if they come up then.
