What kind of cord are you referring to? Probably a USB cord? If so it can plug in to any available USB port... Any USB device can plug in to any USB port. But what do you mean exactly? What kind of ports are you referring to? Most of the time there is no one place in particular.. one kind of port yes, but no "one place"... please explain further.

Can a Dell Dimension 3000 connect to 5.1 surround sound

If your Laptop has a "Latitude C/Port Advanced Port Replicator" Then this Port Replicator connects Dell Latitude notebooks to peripheral devices such as a monitor, printer, keyboard and mouse. To accomplish this, connect your peripheral devices to the Dell port replicator itself, and leave them connected to it. Then connect your notebook to the port replicator to access the devices without having to attach them individually each time you want to use them. You can also set up speakers on the Dell Latitude C/Port port replicator to provide improved quality audio.

Follow following steps:
1) Place your Dell Latitude notebook in your C/Port Advanced Port Replicator and turn on the notebook using the power button.
  • 2) Place the speakers you want to connect to the port replicator on either side of the port replicator according to the Left and Right (L and R) labels on the speakers.

  • 3) Plug the audio line connector from the speakers into the audio line out plug on the port replicator. The audio line out plus is on the right-hand side of the port replicator base next to the infrared port, directly opposite the notebook ejection lever.

  • 4) Plug the power cable from the speakers into a power outlet if needed. Battery-powered speakers will not require this. Turn on the speakers following the manufacturer's instructions.

  • 5) Open your preferred music or audio software (such as Windows Media Player or iTunes) on your Dell Latitude notebook and play an audio file to hear the newly-attached speakers.

How can I reset this laptop to send it's video to a monitor. The lap top video is dead.

To hook up the monitor all you will need to do it connect it to the monitor port on the side or back of the notebook2_bing.gif it should just start displaying on your external monitor as soon as you hook it up but if it dose not you may need to restart the system. Also the port you need to connect to is the only port on the computer the monitor cable will be able to plug into so don't be worried about connecting to the wrong port on your notebook.

    I hope this helped.

    Notebook connection to tv

S-Video - This is probably the most common method out there currently because an S-Video cable is cheap as heck and just about every TV under the sun has a S-Video port. You’ll have to make sure you laptop is equipped with this port. Remember, there are two types of S-Video cables: 4-pin and 7-pin. Most laptops and PC’s are equipped with a 7-pin port, so if your TV only has a 4-pin S-Video port, then this method will not work.

    Video projector from a laptop

You can connect the Projector to the VGA Port of the Notebook which is a Blue Port which can be seen at the rear of any desktop computer to which we usually connect the Monitor to.

The VGA Port will have 15 holes on it and should be in Blue colour.

You can locate the VGA Port at the Left side of the Notebook.

Locate the port according to the information available below :

Refer to page number 14 (18 of 32) in the manual.

Once you connect the Projector to this port, hold the FN key and press F4 key once.

This wil get the Display on the Projector connected to the Notebook.

If you just want the display only on the Projector, hold the FN key and press the F4 again.

Now, if you want the display back on the LCD of the Notebook, Press the FN + F4 third time.

    Hope this helps..

I just purchased a new Mp3 player for my daughter and I'm trying to connect it to the usb port of my computer to charge it for the first time, where is this port located on my computer?

It depends on what kind of pc you have. Are you trying to connect to a desktop pc or a notebook? If it's a desktop, some have front USB connections (usually behind a little door), or else you have to connect it in the back. If it's a notebook computer, it's either on the back or the side of the notebook. When you look at the USB cable, just try to find the same type of 'insert' on your pc.
