SOURCE: LaserJet 6L with Vista using Parallel to USB Cable

It can be done tested by Thoo personally 6L printer prints well on vista too
The printer end should be connected to 25 pin parallel cable, converted to the USB on the notebook end of the wiring
To solve your printing problems locate vista driver, since i have tested vista works fine on HP 6L printers
make sure you select the correct O/S and assign in to the USB virtual port 05

After installing my vista can print perfectly well on test printout

I purchased a used HP keyboard mod 5187-7583 but my computer does not recognize it. I'm using Windows 10-64. Do I need to download drivers for this keyboard?

It could be the "adapter", read this The pros and cons of PS 2 to USB adapters and converters

If you really, really like this keyboard you could always install one of these 2 Port USB 2 0 2 Port PS 2 Combo to PCI Adapter Converter Card NEC Chipset

Personally, I don't see the sense this is a old keyboard and HP didn't even release Windows 7 drivers for it, forget about Windows 10. This means that none of the special function keys or media control will work.

You do not have the best version of Win7... you have the cheap one. If you had the fancy Win7 version of even any version of WinXP you could see your files, if the HDD is good. Ask a friend for assistance and plug the USB adapter into another PC. (I have my diagnostics PC with WinXP to avoid the issue.)

My hp laptop keyboard is not working. why

Could have died a noble death. Try plugging in a usb keyboard. If that works stay with it because laptop parts are expensive and the repairs are labor intensive.

I am wanting to connect a Gateway keyboard to a Dell PC but I need an adapter from female to male usb port. What adapter do I need? Will I need to download any software for this?

amm udont need an adapter, the keyboard once usb will plug right in,, if its circular, means its a ps2 port and you need ps2 to usb. No no drivers needed. Or usb to ps2 ,, depends on your needs, But all Usb are standarad stuff.

B and n keys not working on HP Probook 4520. Can't sign on to computer because need b for part of password.

Until you can get the keyboard of the laptop replaced, you can buy a USB to AT keyboard adapter and hook a desktop keyboard to your system. Also a USB keyboard would work just fine directly plugged-in to one of the USB ports.
Most likely the fix will be to replace the keyboard, which is usually very easy to remove on laptops, but until you can get it fixed, you'll be able to use the system with the regular AT keyboard.
If you want to try to replace the keyboard yourself, I believe I've found it on the HP web site (you will need to confirm that it is the correct keyboard by contacting HP)

Keyboard is too flat for my old hands. What adapter do I need to plug in my old keyboard (Gateway 2006)to my new Dell?

I assume that your old keyboard has a round PS/2 connector, while the new one has a USB connector, right?
If so, look for a matching jack at the rear side of your computer (the blue one; the green one would be for the mouse).
If your computer doesn't have a PS/2 keyboard connector any more, an adapter like this could help (or maybe this one if you are in Europe).

Keyboard not working

Hi

Try an install a USB external keyboard or PS2 whichever. If the external keyboard works then reinstall the drivers for the keyboard they should be universal. If that does not work then it looks like your keyboard has failed.

Keyboard to Laptop connectors

go to Amazon.com, and look up ps/2 (which is the official name for the connector type normal keyboards have) to usb adapter, and you should find a little green thing that adapts your keyboard to usb. Make sure that the usb is a male end, and the ps/2 is a female end, or you've got the wrong one.
However, before you do that, I want to let you know that I just did the same thing, and I cannot get my Gateway keyboard to work on my HP laptop through usb. I have no idea why, and I am currently trying to find a solution. So I wouldn't suggest buying it until you know how to fix it. If you figure it out let me know.
