Question about E-Machines etower 500is PC Desktop
Yes if you have an open available PCI slot on your motherboard. Install a PCI Ethernet adapter card.
eMachines eTower 500is specifications,
Example of a PCI expansion slot,
(Left-click on the photo to the upper right to enlarge. You can enlarge twice)
The eMachines eTower 500is desktop computer uses a TriGem (Manufacturer) Florida TG, or TGA motherboard. (Model)
If you want the Motherboard Manual,
In the list first click on Florida-TG
See if this is the motherboard used in your computer.
(Either the Florida-TG, or the Florida TGA were used.
TriGem is the motherboard manufacturer. Florida-TG is one model, Florida-TGA is another model, that were used in the eTower 500is. I can't tell you which one. It was up to them on the day they made YOUR computer)
If not, click on Florida-TGA
These are PDF files.
The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.
The file will open automatically with Adobe Reader.
I would suggest however, that if you do not have the latest version of Adobe Reader, that you download it. (Adobe Reader 9.3.4.)
After you click on the PDF file, (Florida-TG, or Florida-TGA), a small window will come up.
Opening Florida-TG.zip (Or Opening Florida-TGA.zip)
Make sure you save the file.
If the circle to the Left of Save File does not have a green dot in it, put your mouse cursor on the circle, and left-click once.
Now go below, and click on Save.
Observe the small window that comes up on the upper left. Look at the heading at the top.
See where the file is downloading to.
At the end of the heading it may state My Documents, (Or Documents for Vista)
It may state Downloads.
It may state Desktop.
If it states My Documents, click on Start, then My Documents.
Find the zip file name.
(Florida-TG.zip, or Florida-TGA.zip)
If it states Downloads, click on Start, then double-click on My Documents.
Double-click on Downloads.
Find the file name.
If it states Desktop, the file is on your desktop screen. (Yellow folder icon, with a zipper on it)
When you see the file name, double-click on it.
If you have a program to unzip the file, in the window click on Unzip.
If you do not have a program to unzip zip files, I would suggest downloading a free one.
7-Zip is one example.
After installing 7-Zip, go back to the zip file, and perform the above.
After you double-click on the zip file, and on Unzip, go to the upper left, and click on Extract All Files.
Then just click on Next, Next, and Finish.
Now double-click on the MS Office icon with the file name next to it.
There is your motherboard manual.
I downloaded both files, (Florida-TG, and Florida-TGA), and unzipped them.
If you do not have Microsoft Office, I suggest you download OpenOffice for free.
