SHORT carbon BRUSHES in the motor look on one of the two brushes the autostop protection protrudes at the front of the brush out. replace not direct the brushes , look for a healthy brass-colored wire of the stator field and armature if its dark beware of a short time of pleasure if the collectors are damaged if the engine has had its operating hours because of heating by fine dust cocked filters by time new brushes can have be shorted in a very short time again , and therfore is a brushes replace to expensive .

or a electric field contact a little change if its not a defect collector in the armature turn the motor a little on the top fan and switch the vaccuum on replace the motor if its run with bad noise replace the motor directly by a equivalent FIXAPART brand or any good equivalent , differs on the age of the whole vaccuum what the customer preferred.

SOURCE: kirby vacuum

There are 2 safety switchs, one on the front that the nozzle activates, and one on the side that the bag asembly activates. The motor brushes and/or armature maybe bad.

Vacuum cleaner won't turn on

Check the cord first to make sure you are getting power to the switch. If not replace the cord, if so test the switch to make sure you are getting power through the switch. If still not solved follow the power down to the motor and make sure you're getting power to the motor. If so and still wont' run test the motor.

It will not turn on.... is there a reset button

Check the cord to make sure you are getting power to the switch, if so check the switch to make sure you are getting power through the switch. If so, follow the power to the motor to see if you are getting power to the motor. If you are getting power to the motor and it still will not run it may need a new motor.

I was vacuuming with bissell 3750-T and I shut it off and went to turn it back on and will not start or do anything, what is wrong?

If you can't smell burning then it's probably a broken power switch or the vacuum got too hot and the thermal overload protection has tripped. Try leaving it off for 15-30 minutes and try it again. The thermal overload will reset itself during this time and it should work again.

In the meantime, make sure you have power to the vacuum, check for any blockages and check that the rollers in the cleaning head will turn by hand. Also, give your filters a clean. Any of these could cause the vacuum to overheat.

If you've already done this and/or power doesn't return after 15-30 minutes, I would start by checking the switch.

A couple of questions . . .

1. Does the power switch feel "normal" - basically does it have a positive feel when you switch on and off?
2. How long had you been using the vacuum before it stopped working?

Hi,
Before that I wouild check the switch...the switches on those things go bad regularly...get a meter and check the power on either side of the main switch and I think your problem will be there...

My vacuum worked fine yesterday and now doesn't start

To my knowledge, the on/off switch is the only area to turn your vacuum on or off. There might be a problem with your cord, or with the switch itself. I suggest checking for clogs and anything that may cause a problem.

I also suggest taking it to a local vacuum shop to have it looked and as you may need some new parts (cord/switch)

No power

It could be the switch button that you push to turn it on (2031199), or the switch (2031243) could be the problem. If not those 2, then the cord could be bad or even the motor (2031214). I would check that switch button first.

First, check your outlet for power...plug something else in. Then, inspect the cord and check the power switch. You can use a multimeter to test across the power plug of the vacuum in the ohms position. Turn the switch off and on. If it does not change readings...the switch or cord is bad. If it does, it might be the motor.
