Question about Toshiba 32A50 32" TV

1 Answer

Is it possible that the remote sensor can burn out? The remote that came with the TV won't work and neither will the satellite remote which is programmed to run the TV. New batteries have been installed in both remotes. The power indicator is lit up on the front of the computer but there is no light on the right side of that box for the remote sensor. If the sensor is burnt out, what does it cost to replace this?

Your TVs low power supply rail [5V] is absent. That is the supply rail goes to both remots sensor, power indicator and front keys. just check it.

TV remote burns through batteries

Thank you for the reply. In investigating the Ilio Plasma TV, I found if it worked HOORAY. It does. Further investigation revealed resetting the sensor may fix the burned out remote. We have the TV up and out of the way so when we do get it operating again soon, we will try the sensor reset and a new set of batteries.

Check the remote control for its infra-red emission first. If it is found OK, check and replace the infra-red sensor inside the TV. If you wish to get more details, check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic / Time slide, can be selected by the drop-down list, at the top left of the display window, will make surf easy. You can also do a search, by type in the brand name/model number/IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window. Details about how to check a remote control is given.

It doesn't work

Hi,

is this a remote to TV or what? I am assuming it's a remote to a TV. If it is not for a TV, let me know, although, the solution is similar to any unit that uses remote control.

There are three possible causes for this problem;

1. Batteries may be dead inside the remote.
2. Remote might be defctive.
3. TV remote sensor/infrared might be defective.

Battries; Simply insert new batteries into the remote and try again. If changing batterises doesn't help, problem as to be from the Remote or TV's infrared.

Remote: Check the remote battery terminal, see if its not rust. Also, disassemble the remote, can check the connection between the terminal and the remote board, see if there is no disconnection of any kind.

If after checking and all seems well, then it means the remote is defective. To confirm, borrow a remote, test it with the TV. If it works, then it means you need to replace your remote. But if the remote you borrowed does not work, then it means the problem is from the TV and not the remote.

TV: There is a sensor in the TV that communicates with the remote. If this sensor is defective, the remote won't communicate with the TV.

The TV sensor might have loosed contact from inside of the TV or it maybe defective and need to be replaced.

So do the above troubleshooting and let me know if the problem is from the TV or remote. If problem is from the remote, you need to do a replacement. But if otherwise, let me knows as well.

Yours sincerely

Remote Controll works inconsistently

Have you replaced the batteries in the remote with newones? If you have, you may have IR interference from some source in yourroom. It could be from a florescent lamp, another player, or even the TV. Isthe receiver in an open space or in an enclosed area? The IR sensor needs adirect line of sight to work properly. You may also check the receiver ifanything is obstructing the sensors, maybe dust. I hope this helps.

Dish IR Remote 20.0 has problems after sunset.

The problem for me was the TV giving off IR signals that interfered with DISH's poorly designed remote. When the TV's room ambient light sensor was turned on and it became dusk outside the DISH remote would stop working. Moving the receiver away from the TV helps but the problem is not eliminated until the light sensor is turned off.
Until DISH corrects this poor design there may be no other viable solution.

this is from your producer: Product Description ? BASIC OPERATION OK ? everyone knows what a handheld remote control unit does for your home electronics. You can control your basic four (4) components: TV, DVD player, VHS player, Cable or Satellite tuner. Setup is simple for these basic 4? put in the batteries, look up the manufacturer of your component (Mitsubishi TV) and note the possible 3-digit ?program codes?? turn on the component, press the remote control?s PROGRAM button until the light stays red, press the component button (i.e., TV), enter in the ?program code?, and press the ?power off button? ? if the component (i.e., TV) turns off: you are programmed! If the component (i.e., TV) doesn?t turn off, then repeat the sequence using another of the manufacturer?s program codes until it does. Easy ? took me about 3 minutes to program my old Zenith TV (in the bedroom), my SONY DVD player, and my Mitsubishi S-VHS player. No problems at all. HOWEVER, in case you do run into a component for which the ?program codes? don?t work? you can go through a sequence to self-identify the coding. While I won?t go into it here, it is only slightly more time consuming than the other method. As my codes worked fine, I can not address this aspect, so I won?t make a claim we didn?t test.
