Hi. Its a 3 year old 42 inch Phillips. The model # listed in the manual is 37/42/50PF7320a/37 - hopefully that makes sense.

Hi. Unfortunately, its not the settings. I should mention that my mother in law has had the tv on about 12+ hours a day for the last 2 weeks.

  • suzaries Jun 03, 2008

We haven't added anything new, but there is a digital antenna, dvd player and wii. The pic is bad for all 3.

  • suzaries Jun 03, 2008

The images are changing when I change to dvd, wii or change the channel on the tv.

If there is a hardware prob with the plasma, do you know how much is usually runs to fix? I am going to see if my husband can check the voltage on the power supply too (he works on guitar amps so should have the equipment). Do you know of any place where I could get the schematic on Philips plasmas??

Does it seem like that an image got burnt into the screen at all because this is a common problem with Plasma tvs especially with the same image being shown over and over.

I'm thinking that the video processor is bad, so have your husband take a look at that first, but a lot of these tvs seem to have an overheating board that will bend and cause problems too.

Here is a link to the service manual, hope it helps

Maybe you changed the settings on your tv by lowering the gamma or brightness

A common failure on Plasmas is due to high heat on the Y sustainer boards.
If you could measure the voltages from the power supply to the sustainers assemblies, some video failures could be related to a lower voltage from the power supply to the main board as well.

If the brightness and contrast are set correctly to about 50% to start, you could increase them higher and see if that helps.

If that did not improve the video quality, then more likely there is a hardware defect on your plasma.

it seems that it has been overheated you may need to get a repair guy in.

Blotchy prints

First, make sure your print cartridges are aligned by going to your printer software and printing out an alignment page. Secondly, adjust your printer software/properties to make sure your printing to your best photo quality. Third and most important, make sure you have the right kind of printer paper, which is probably the main reason that your page is blotchy.

Another reason its blotchy would be if the printer was not a good one.
