Question about GE Profile JTP56 Electric Double Oven

1 Answer

Total Black screen. The oven has been trouble since I purchased the home. The repair man under warranty was going to put a new brain in it, but didn't because he got it to work for one more short month. Can I replace the master brain cheap since my warranty is out? Wish the repair man would have actually fixed it correctly.

Barbieann,
Yes, you can order the new brain for $429 online at PartSelect dot ca. If you go to to a appliance parts store they will charge more.

Why can't I light the oven?

Dale Jackson Apr 09, 2015

Update: I suspected the ignitier coil was the issue since it was not glowing. I couldn't get a good look at it, so I used my cell phone to reach inside and take some pictures of it.One of the attached pictures shows the igniter in place, the other shows it removed. The apparent break in the coil told me that my suspicions were probably correct. I found an instructional video online that showed how to test it. It tested bad. I called a local appliance parts store and found an OEM replacement for $66.40 in stock. I also checked online and could have ordered it for under $25.00 but would have had to done without an oven for 2-3 days and I had taken off work early today to get this repair completed. Total repair time (including troubleshooting) was maybe 2 hours. Replacement was easy. 2 screws held the unit in place and they were easy to access. The electrical connection was made via two ceramic wire nuts and the new unit came with two new ones and the leads were plenty long to make the required connections. Total repair cost; $66.40. Total repair time; approx. 2 hours. Tools needed; 1/4 inch nut driver. Estimated dollar savings; $200.00. Safety Reminder: Disconnect electrical supply and shut off gas supply before begining repairs.

Cooling fan came on without oven being on

There is an electronic device that bring the fan on when the oven is hot. Sound like it went flaky, as it still under warranty I would get it checked oout.

Nothing happen what should i do now? i try to unlock and is nothing on the screen is black and by the screen with tha clock say F2;E1

If your oven is displaying the F2 E1 error code, then the problem is probably NOT just that the CONTROL LOCK feature on the oven was engaged.

The F2 E1 error is probably an indication of an electrical fault inside the electronic control system for the oven.

Sometimes this is simply a temporary error in the control panel circuitry which can be cleared by shutting off the electrical power supply to the oven for a minute or so at the breaker box.

Other times this is caused by a loose wire or faulty connection inside the control panel, or it is simply a faulty control panel circuit board.

Try switching off the electrical power to the oven using the corresponding breaker at the main fuse panel in your home. When you switch the power back on after a minute or so, press the CANCEL button on the oven controls panel.

If the above procedures do not work then you will likely need to contact a local service technician to disassemble the oven, diagnose the cause, and repair the problem.

If your oven is new, be sure to contact your dealer at the place of purchase since the cost of the repair may be covered under the terms of your warranty.

Good luck.

Joe.

F3 error message

HELLO.

When "F3" error code flashes, a small part known as the oven temperature sensor has encountered an error and fails to work anymore.the error means that a circuit has been exposed or broken.

THE DETAILED SOLUTION IS GIVEN BELOW.

A new oven sensor needs to be purchased. They can be found at many local repair shops or online at websites like Parts Wizard.

Check the current warranty on your oven. The sensor may be covered under your warranty, and if that is still active, you can receive free repair and replacement from the producer.

Use a manual guide from your exact oven to find the location of the oven temperature sensor. Make sure your oven is off and unplugged before attempting to install the sensor. If uncomfortable, you can hire a repair person to install the part.

Thanks.

Kenmore Oven will not shut off

ok, due to the age of this unit, the repair will be costly. the issue here is a damaged control board. the control will run a little over 200 dollars and that without the labor charge. standard labor charges will vary form 50 to 75 dollars an hour and , there is a 2 hour standard start charge automatically leaved once the repair man arrives. this will bring your repair bill to the 300 dollar mark. you may be able to find a cheap repairman but, the price will be hovering in the 230 to 290 range a t best.

It would be more cost affective to purchase a new unit with a new warranty as well.

well first it doesn't matter when the problem occurred warranty is warranty but you can pull the oven out and pull the panel off the top where the eoc is and pull the mylar ribbon out there is a black plastic piece at the base of the ribbon pull it up and pull the ribbon out clean it with a pencil eraser then reseat it and lock it down if that doesn't fix it then the eoc must be replaced go to www.frigidaire.com and find a service in your area it will be a warranty issue

Self-Clean gets too hot on JTP56 double-oven

Your husband is correct, kind of. You should not try self clean again until you get the oven repaired. You have a temp sensor going out. I doubt that the oven actually got too hot, most likely the resistor in the sensor is failing as it heats up and giving a false temp reading.Since the lower oven was operating at the time, it is probably the sensor in the lower oven. Don't use it for baking until you get it repaired. It will go out completely and shut down both ovens. You should be able to get a new sensor for around $30 and they are not hard to replace.

The oven won't set your house on fire during clean mode if the cabinets were built with the correct air space and dimensions, but they do get very hot, about 800 degrees F. Most ovens give no trouble during the clean cycle, but if there is any weak components in the electronics system it will show up then. It will give you less trouble over time if you don't use the self clean mode and just manually clean it.
