Question about Sony Handycam DCR-TRV27 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

I have a Sony DCR-TRV27. After reviewing what I just tapped, I went into video mode and the LCD was blank. You still could see the battery level, zoom bar and other on screen prompts, but no video. I even tried looking at the viewfinder and it looked exactly like the LCD. No video but with prompts. What went wrong? Thanks, Jeff

This is usually caused by a defective CCD image sensor and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

On the DCR-TRV27 I don't see a black roller on Error C:31:23 on Sony trv27

It probably fail off, which is very common problem, roller should be still inside of the camcorder. You also have to look for small white, lake tubing part that hold pinch roller on the shaft.

Error message; has something to do with insertion of tape. Looks like triangle over straight line. beeps and blinks, will not play. Working when loaned to a "friend", returned in this condition...

Will it record on a new tape? Will it play a different tape? Have had a similar problem with a different camera. Think it had to do with the record mode / play back. A bit like standard play and long play - are there setting like that you could change?

All I needed was the correct software for downloading video and sound. And that happens to be the software that came with the camera.

Sony DCR-TRV27

i have (or probably had) the same problem. Try this - there is a small reset button on the left side panel of the camcorder. While the set is on VCR model press this and keep pressed for 30 seconds or so. The corrected image should return and probably the problem would go away. I tried this by chance and the problem doesn't seem to recur.

good luck.

I have another problem though:
In my Sony DCR-TRV27 - A part of the left side console buttons do not work - the tape controls (REW, FF, STOP, PAUSE, PLAY) work alright. The Memory Stick controls seem to work alright. But, pressing the Menu button does not bring any menu display on the screen. Similarly, the scrolling wheel on the front seems not working. A couple of years back the moisture went inside (I went to Niagara falls!). For few weeks whole of the panel wasn't working but now most of it works. But I cannot get the Menu option work. I would be glad to hear if you have any other suggestions / advises. thanks for your time,
