Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Drivers? Everytime I try to access another drive or go to "my computer" the system freezes up and shows me only the blue screen with the Windows XP Media Center Edition logo. I have attached a WD external hard drive for storage of video clips/movies and would also use the system to sync music to mp3s (Sansa & Zune) Any suggestions on getting my system to operate correctly? Thanks for any help.

'' a problem has been detected and windows has shutdown to prevent damage''

From the description it is the hard drive that is the problem, format the whole hardware and re-install your xp windows to see if that will clear up the problem, if not! have the hard drive tested to see if it must be replaced.

Get a windows 7 install or repair disc. Make sure your pc boots from the disc drive. When you get to the installation screen tick REPAIR YOUR COMPUTER. Then select the installation you want to repair and choose STARTUP REPAIR.

Emachines 180 desktop reinstalling windows xp

Your trying to reinstall Windows XP from cd on your emahcine computer and from what I understand part of the way through the installation of XP you recieve a blue screen? Am I correct?
If so then their can be a couple of things wrong here.
One your cd drive is not reading the cd correctly try cleaning the lense on your cd drive or change the drive and use a different drive. Second your Windows XP cd is bad, screatched or smudged. Try cleaning your cd or make a copy of it on a friends machine and use the new one. If you tried all of these and you are still getting the blue screen repost for more help.

Thanks

I recently tried to install a new WD320Gb HD and windows XP won't load. I loaded it to the drive from another computer and Windows won't successfully boot up. I get a Stop: 0x0000076B (0xF7946640,...

You installed the 320GB drive into another system & installed windows XP. Than removed the drive & installed it into another computer!
All of windows internal drivers for the first install will not function in the second. (Windows XP is going nuts).
You have to do a fresh install while in the system you want to keep the drive in. This is why your getting the stop errors & blue screens.
You must have a reason of why you did not install the 320GB drive into the second computer for the XP installation?
Care to provide the why?
