That sounds much more realistic to the problem and that appears to be the cause but not 100% sure until I get a new pump..... please give details of changing the pump.

    Thanks

Hi.

Unless the appliance is shutting down IMMEDIATELY after starting the drain part of the cycle, I don't think that you need a new pump.

If the pump turning on results in immediate shut down, then it is probably a short in wiring to pump. If the washer is failing after a while that the pump is on, then it can be the fan attached to (and part of) drain pump, present in F&P model, the timer board, or some other fault (eg. Balance sheet).

Other thing you can do is a diagnostic. There should be a tech sheet held in a plastic envelope tucked inside the control panel showing how to do the diagnostic.

Here general instructions to start Diagnostic Mode:

Turn off the power using control panel.
Press and hold the wash temperature down and then press the power button.
The machine will beep twice.
Browse diagnostic menu using the spin speed up or the spin speed down buttons.

If the machine does not enter diagnostic mode, then the control board may have a problem. The control board is expensive and fails rarely, before replacing the electronic control, any other part that may be responsible for the problem must be tested, including Power Control and Pressure Sensing Module and balance sensor.

In your case, probably is likely the pump, not the control board. The pump is tested by jumping its contacts and energizing it directly. If it fails after a while, then it must be replaced. For safety reasons the test must be done by a technician.

Pump is part 426956P, and costs about $60. Here the part.

Here the full disassembly in the part manual. Pump is part 18 in diag shown at page 16:

Hi just read your posting. Now it sounds like your pump is tripping out on the thermal overload. On your model of machine the pump is part of the power circuit. So what is happening is the pump starts to pump out the wash water and then because there is a fault with the pump it over heats and the thermal cutout in the drain pump windings trips and cuts power to the control module and turns off the machine. Then when the pump cools down the thermal cutout resets itself and you are able to start the machine again. Is this what is happening to your machine ,it cuts out when it is draining and then the power comes on after a while? The action you need to do is to look under your machine to the front right and you will see a fan ,this is your pump.Check for leaks and corrosion on and around the pump with a torch. Please reply on what you see and I can help you with changing the pump and also checking the other components that might have been affected.Looking forward to your reply.

Are you using too much detergent. This can cause the sensor to motor to get hot and quit.
Tub turns real good? Nothing jammed between the tubs? Their are 2 pumps. One continuously tosses water over them clothes. Suds are monitored by amp draw on the motor. If the brain gets wind of a problem it will continually work the motor till it over heats.

Machine stopped in mid cycle with the drain/unlocking light on. No error codes. Machine goes directly to the drain/unlocking position after start. Will not fill, spin, operate. Any ideas?

Good Day,
Your washing machine is fully automatic?
the washing cycle is normal?
if yes do the same maybe it will help you.
for the fully automatic washing machine mostly have drain pump, please check the filter of your drain pump, how? remove the cup of your drain pump like a ordinary cup, screw it clock wise or counter clock wise.
Remove drain pump filter and clean it, some hair pins, cotton buds or coins or any small item that coz of clog up.
if your washing machine dont have drain pump ,but fully automatic check the drain motor if running or not? how? open the back cover for top loader washing machine only, select spin cycle and press start to see the drain motor running? the drain motor is like a small box with small wire to pull the lever of the drain to remove water inside, if the motor running or pull the lever of the water pipe but water still inside the washing machine, remove the drain cup or cover and clean it or check if have coin or cloth inside that coz of clog or water stuck,
if the drain pump or drain motor is weak this is will cause and long time draining or totally not running the drain pump or drain motor and its cause of totally stop the cycle of washing machine in rinse time or spin time, because all fully automatic washing machine, after washing cycle the drain pump or drain motor must be on, to remove water before start the next cycle. rinse or spin cycle.

Frigidaire washing machine (FTW3011KW0) runs through all cycles, agitates, pumps out water, but doesn't spin, nor does the motor attempt to spin during the spin cycle

Your main switch needs replaced. The motor that drives the switch operates because it goes through the other cycles, so the switch must be bad.

Our Fisher and Paykel excellence 5.5 smart drive 9, washes fine but when it comes on rinse cycle it wont drain the water and makes a humming sound.

Check your pump with a multimeter for correct reading
230V AC Pump 50Hz 33Ohms +/- 8% @ 20oC
110V AC Pump 60Hz 7Ohms +/- 8% @ 20oC
Also check for blockages that may stop pump from turning.
Disconnect from power & Bail out all the water you can before removing pump.

GW709AU stopped and will not switch back on

Check the pump is plugged in as the plug can come out and will cause the machine to appear dead. If this is ok then unfortunately something has blown the surface mount fuses on the motor controller module, Below is a like to the service manual for your machine, download the smart drive service manual

I have an toploader smart drive (about 12 years old now). I added some clothes to the machine last minute throught the cycle and now its just stopped. Dashboard lights come on but it wont drain or...

Water will not drain from machine
1. Kinked or clogged drain hose---clean hose
2. Pump does not run----readjust & tighten pump, drive mechanism
3. Suds lock---remove suds add cold water
4. Faulty transfer value---replace
5. Defective timer---replace
6. Loose belt----adjust belt

Water will not pump out

If the motor runs but the machine doesnt extract any water the pump or hose is obstructed. If it just goes silent when it gets to the pump out portion of the cycle, probable cause would be a lid switch.

My kenmore won't pump out the water. what could

couple of possible reasons and this will vary by brand of machine...lid switch could be bad...some machines will wash or agitate with lid up but will not spin unless lid is closed..others will not do nothing with lid up....some brands will not spin if the water level switch can detect water in the tub...this means your machine didnt pump the water out of the machine so it could spin couple of reasons for this 1 bad pump or bad pump motor(some machines have a pump that is driven by a drifferent motor than the one that drives the transmission)usually these machines use the water level switch to activate(turn on/off) the pump when the machine goes into spin cycle... some machines the pump wil come on and stay on for the entire spin cycle...some machines the belt will be bad and you just need a new belt....first thing to do is see if raising the lid will turn the machine off when it is in wash cycle if it does not..then it will in spin cycle..if the machine will not work in spin cycle the lid switch will be the reason why..

F & P washing machine GW709AU not competing rinse cycle and then beeps and flashes light.

My Whirlpool washing machine is not stopping after completion of wash cycle instead it is repeating the cycle again. It is not consistent, but out of 3 washes 1 wash is happening that way...we are manually stopping machine by gaurding carefully when timer shows nearer to completion.

Spin the fan on water pump (you can acess with difficulty from bottom of washer) if it has a little sand in it, it may clear. It is possible to remove water pump if mechanically minded and see if something small eg staple or 5c coin is stuck in it if this dosn't work or you may find you need to replace water pump.
